Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6

Car cranks but won't start!(2002 jaguar x-type)

My mom and I were at the car wash going through those drive in car washes and then our car just turned off. It shook a little before it cut off. What could possibly be wrong with it? The battery is not dead and we have gas in the car.

You got the wiring wet. Did they steam off the engine with a power washer? If so, they probably got the distributor wet and it won't fire the spark plugs. Have someone look it over and see if that's what happened. It may also be a fuse that got water-logged. You can sometimes use WD-40 to spray into the wet area to remove the water and get it going again.

2001 jaguar s-type won't crank battery new and charged. Turn the ignition car won't make a sound

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

2004 Jaguar XJ8 won't start after going through the car wash,

It sounds like the ignition control module shorted out due to the moisture. Get yourself a spark tester from the parts store. Have someone crank the engine will you check for spark. Here is one that will only cost about $7. Once you know if you have spark we will be able to help you better.

Would you recommend this car -- it has 71,000 miles on it and seems in good condition. Asking price is $5800.

I am an old Jag mechanic and love the cars. BUT! I would not personally buy an 8cyl jaguar built before 2002. The engines had a cylinder wear problem that will cause it to lose compression. Most noticible when you, for instance, start the car in the garage and back it into the driveway to wash it etc. You turn the car off and then try to start it a half hour or so later. Engine will sound funny and the car will not start. The two combined starting proceedures has washed all the oil off the cylinder walls with injected gas. Unfortunately the oil was all that was holding enough compression in the cylinder to start it. I have had to remove all the coil packs and squirt oil in each cylinder and then try to start the cars. Usually works. Porsche and BMW had the same type material used in the cylinders but only BMW had like problems. Jaguar changed the material used in 2002 and eliminated the problem. Seems the sulpher in our gas was destroying the early cylinder walls. Buy a later car.
