Question about Hyundai Motor 1998 Accent
Hi from the uk to remove the rotor(brake disc) is as follows= raise and spport car safely ! then remove wheel then remove the two bolts at rear of brake caliper these are the bolts that secure caliper to the carrier then if you pull on the rear of caliper away from carrier it will push the brakepad and piston back sufficiently to remove caliper ? tie up caliper so as to protect flex hose from strain ok? then there are two larger bolts 17mm ??spanner that hold the carrier and secures it to the stubaxle assy at the rear remove these bolts and carrier ok? now the rotor is secured to the hub by 2 posidrive or torque head screws unscrew and then you may have to tap the rotor from behind to remove ? re assembly is the reverse of above ok? now whilst stripped down may i suggest you wire brush caliper and carrier assys of rust etc then to prevent rust again i myself paint the carrier and the outside surface of caliper with hammerite quick dry paint or they do a spray paint if yo prefere? dries 15--20 minutes and red always looks great? like customised ??you might think its bulls---t but customers are always impressed and think new calipers fitted ? however back to finished job now when you have reassembled and b4 fitting wheel pump the brake pedal! then bleed the caliper to clear/flush out old fluid untill clean fluid appears a couple of pumps of pedal will be suffice dont forget to top up reservoir with fluid hope this all helps and is clear instructions for you wish you well and a happy new year 2009 ! ps e mail me direct if you req further info/advice and please update how you get on?
