idle goes up and down and dies. sometimes it will take gas sometimes it dies out. changed sensors on emmission. will not take the gas to run truck smooth.

My first thought is your EGR valve. Second is a massive vacuum leak. Or throttle body problem

You can remove the EGR valve and make some kind of a metal plate over the hole to test it. It can usually be made with a flat piece of metal with 2 bolt holes over it.

Vacuum leaks usually cause high idle. With small leaks you can spray carburetor cleaner around the gasket area and see if idle stabilizes momentarily.

Throttle body problem, look into the throttle body when someone starts the car. the fuel should trickle out. if it is pouring out. you have an injector problem.

    Hope this helps some.

You need to be a little more clear in your request and symptoms.

You need to narrow the problem down a little for us. Is there fuel in the tank? Did the problem just start or progressively get worse?

The more information we have the better we can narrow down the problem.

98 s10 chev pickup eng is on code 440 replace gas cap ianser i would thank you if you could

this code is for a large evap system leak. it could be the gas cap not sealing properly or a vent hose has come off possible seal around fuel sender. the most common cause is a loose or faulty gas cap. a smoke tester is what is needed to find a leak it basically fogs the system and pressurizes the fuel tank any leaks will be seen by a "smoke" coming out of the area.

My 1984 toyota pickup will not idle it will run

could be several things, sounds like either your carb, is bad or needs rebuilt. Or you may have some bad vacuum lines, I would check the one going to the distributor first

Why does 92 ford F150 4wd stall when shifting it

try this and see if it helps.
, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.
