Key fob broke where the key ring goes

I have a remote unlock key fob for 2003 pontiac montana.
The place where the ring goes broke through and I can't keep it on my keyring. Is there an easy fix or a case i can put it in? I searched the web but the cheapest thing I can find is a $30 replacement case.

Similar problem. My thought was to Krazy glue a slip ring from a Jewelry making kit into the hole to reinforce the plastic but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Had the same problem. checkout the website "keylessride.com" .key fob costs about $36 plus shipping and the instructions to program it to your vehichle. the dealers here in Canada wanted $125 plus 1/2 hr labor to program.

Good luck

There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote.

How do you know the replacement switches were good? These actuators work in a series...One could be defective, causing the others (including drivers door) to not work...Also try cleaning all contact points with PB Blaster, and wipe dry...Hope this helps.

For instructions on how to program remotes and keys check website below, I use these and they are usually very accurate. This website does state that on your vehicle, special equipment is needed to program a key fob, as there is no onboard programming for it. However, there are programming instructions for transponder keys.

Change the battery in the remote fob. Go to Best Buy or any place that sells watch size or similar batteries.

Remote keyless entry

I assume you are talking about the key fob. First, pry it open and change the battery. Watch which way the + goes.
If your key fob works, and the battery did not fix it, try reprogramming following the instrcutions in the owner manual. May need both fobs present at the same time.
Note; This is different than programming the anti-theft key.

For the sliding doors you need to clean the contacts, there are 6 or 8 on both sides, just wipe them clean as they are probably covered in oil/grease/grime.

2002 montana program key fob

Key fobs tend to hold their code indefintely. The batteries in them are probably burnt. Open up one of the fobs and replace the battery (hearing aid type) then they should work fine. Good Luck!~
