I have a Peugeot 306 GTI from year 2000, and my electrical windows also stopped working today, both of them (front) simultaneously.

There is a buzzing/clicking noise when i try to use the buttons, sounds kind of like a "summer" or what it's called... Have also checked the fuses, they look okay. The light in the buttons is lit alright.

Will try opening the door to follow the cables.

Hi,
It sounds like a power supply problem. I can't see all 4 motors broken.
First how does the switch "feel" No buttons loose?
Does it illuminate when you switch sidelights on?
If that's ok
I would gain access to the master switch on the drivers door.
I would think you have to remove the door panel and armrest I can't remember for sure, but it doesn't take a lot .
Check and make sure all the multiplugs are connected first of all.
Make sure all the terminals in the plugs are fully "home"
If there is nothing obvious i would follow the loom to where it exits the door and goes back into the car and check for damage.
Check for ANY other electrical equipment not working, if so go back to your handbook and re-check which fuse it goes through.
Also, if this problem has occurred after a recent repair, I suggest you return to the repairer.

Check the rubber tube which goes between the drivers door and the lower 'A' pillar, this contains wires which control windows, central locking etc. and are prone to the wires breaking inside due to the opening and closing of the door. often this needs replacing and can be a source of quite a few electrical niggles.

One more thing you can check is if the switches dont work, Peugeots have that problem that the switches loose connection in the contact point inside the switches and replacement is nessesary.
It can also be the wiring connection socket located under the middle console that has in some way been pulled apart that causes the missing connection. Its rare that the window motors die and 100% not them all, so the problem is not in the doors, thou it can be the wiring between the doors and the body that causes the problem because they are constructed wrong, making the wires brake.

Does anyone know the color codes used. My window is down and it's definitely the switch. Until I can get it in for repair I would like to roll the window up again by bridging out the appropriate wires on the connector block. At least I wouldn't be so paranoid about it being broken into then.

The wires run under the front seats. They start at the drivers side and travel under the plastic panel at the door jam, then cross over to the other side. then they go forward and back to the doors and other electrical devices in the car. these wires can break anywhere. but usually at the door jams. Corners mostly. You will need an electrical schematic and ohm/volt meter to trace the wires. Also a piece of wire about 5 feet long and lots of time. This not a fuse or relay problem as all the doors work off one circuit breaker. If it went bad then none of the doors would work. Let me know, I can help. also there is the slight possibility that both motors went out at the same time. Randy

Check your fuses (open the kick panel above accelerator pedal to access) If it's not a fuse you can get a test light for a few bucks at supercheap/repco etc.It has a needle which you push through the plastic coating on your wires to see if power is there.Try working backwards from there to check for broken wiring.

I would follow their recommendation as I had the same problem with my car. They unhooked the power to that door and it was fine. The problem was a short in the wiring in the door that was causing the problem. So maybe get them to check the wiring in the door as well.

Peugot 306 indicator noise and wfront electric windows

hey kempster_rob the problem is in the wiring between the doors and the body, the wiring is short and is constructed wrong, so when you after 3000 openings and closings the wires brakes and either loose connection or makes shortcuts between the different cables causing fuse blows and disrupted working electrical system. Solution is to open the isolation around the cables and either repair them or displace them, its possible to buy a repair kit at the peugeot dealer
