A/c compressor Should the a/c compressor spin all the time when calling for cooling? Right now it start and stop about every second.

Sounds like a low freon level. a shop can recharge and check for leaks.

Air con cool for a few days then won't get cool, stop and restart all good


Cars for years have been using a serpentine belt. The compressor only works if the belt is spinning. With the engine running check to make sure the belt is spinning consistently. The alternator or the water pump could be seizing up causing the belt to stop. Check your idler as well. Tension on the belt could be loose and again not turning everything.

I have a Grand Vitara Suzuki 2008. Aircondition stop generating cool air. what could be the reason. car has 14,000 km and since last check I have travelled 1000 km


AC dead. all the time? truly all times.
1: does the fan blow? full speed.
2: does AC work on a hot day and a cold started engine? y/n
3: did you check the freon pressure, with the cheap refill kit
that has a gauge with the kit and hose.
is the gunge reading zero?
4: you start engine, and open hood and look at the AC compressor.
is the fan belt to that compressor turning, or is the belt missing.
if turning is the AC pulley spinning, that is not just the pulley but the
compressor front part and its main shaft, are they spinning.?
if not the AC clutch is disengaged.
if disEngaged, that means the AC logic box, is not happy.
The AC logic box can shut down the AC for 4 or more reasons.
and to find that , I stop here.
the fsm shows the pins on the logic box to see with logic input is failing.
on my car, its:
1: A/C on , switch is off.
2: fan not on, or power to it dead, no fan the logic cuts the compressor so the core dont freeze up and crack.
3: engine overload
4: engine overheat.
5: freon pressure too high.
6: freon pressure too low.
7: too cold outside, so shuts down , has to be extreme cold, RTM.
at the least. all this logic functions, save fuel and save other parts
from damage. and huge costs.

that is it for today, one more unsolved.

AC Clutch noise and vibration


An A/C clutch will not make this concern happen, more likely the A/C compressor is begining to go out. The belt on the A/C clutch Assy. free wheels (spins feree on the pulley) when clutch is not engaged. If concern is not present with A/C off this means the bearings in the puley assy. ok. Once the A/C clutch is engaged it locks the compressor against the spinning pulley and turn the compressor chaft and spins the A/C compressor internal shaft. If you hear a loud "screach" when you turn on the A/C it means the belt slipped for a second, if it continiues to screach it means either the belt is loose or that the compressor is internaly locking up. I wouild start by checking the belt tension (if not equipted with and auto tensioner). You can also remove the belt and turn on the A/C and attempt to turn the clutch/pulley by hand, it should turn with a little effect but should not bind or lock at times if that happens compressor is bad.

One thing I can think of that will do that, is if some one wire your radiator elec. fan motor direct where it runs all the time, the fan motor will act like a alternator, where it will put voltage out to the ignition system, and till it stops spinning it will power the engine elec. system, one way to check is disconnect the cooling fan elec. plug (harness) and start the engine, if it turn off right away that your problem.

The compressor stops working. I parked the car for a week and when I came back from out of town it wasn't cooling. I took it to the dealership, they said the relay was popped out o_O. popped it in, started...


sounds like they cant find the problem, i dont think an 03 would have that kind of wiring problem, i think there guessing, could be a bad compressor, but hard to say without checking it . good luck, maybe its time for a 2nd shop to look at it.

When i turn my air condition on my belts start to scream and it doesn't get that cold, actually it use to get cool and now it doesn't. it seems like my compressor is putting to much tension on my belt....


The compressor may be locked up.
With engine OFF try to turn the front of the a/c compressor pulley.
Then start engine , LOOK to see if inner part of pulley is spinning.Turn a/c on , inner part should start and stop.(cycle) If any of this does not happen get a/c repaired.

You might not have enough R134A in it the system should hold 3 - 5 lbs of pressure if I remeber right. But if the clutch is kicking in then its working but you might not have enough R134A. Buy the kit that has the pressure guage with a trigger on it so you can add what you need. When you fill it turn car on and ac on high then fill it. When ac is off the clutch should spin freely if not then your compressor is junk. As for the slight grinding noise just to make sure with CAR OFF turn the clutch on the compressor and make sure its not rubbing the pulley on the compressor.

A/C PROBLEMS


You need to put more freon, if you put the right amount.
You need to check the ciclyng switch.
If you put too much freon the hight pressure switch cut of the compressor. check that too.
