Question about 1999 BMW 318 ti
My 330i BMW boot was working normally from the remote boot key fob all of a sudden it has stopped working. Do you nkow what steps i need to take in checking this problem out?
I have checked the wiring and the fuse that govern the central locking.
Is there any other steps i need to take before i have to tkae it to BMW and shell out big money to fix this problem.
Yes, this is what makes the Germans so cool!
Step one, replace battery in key foob. If that doesnt work proceed to next step.
Your BMW has a central locking system overide solution.
insert your main key into the driver door. before turning the key lift the door handle as if your opening the door, then turn the key all the way clockwise....it should go further than it ever has....it should make all the door latches POP! If this doesnt work, Try it while turning the key counterclockwise.
If this doesnt work, make sure you have your radio code and take off the negative battery cable overnight on your car. Then attach it after 12 hours and repeat above steps.
This should work, this is what they will do at the dealer and charge you about $700 :-)

Hi all i have had the problem diagnosed at BMW main dealer at an astronomical cost of £265 for 2 hours work. This was to fix an earth that had broken causing the problem. I also have another problem with the boot catch realease switch which also needs replacing.
Is there anyone out there with some cheapoer ideas than the BMW main dealer option,
Fitz Meikle U.K.
