Question about 2000 Honda Accord

1 Answer

Accord 2000 alarm goes off randomly

On my Honda Accord 2000, the alarm goes off intermittently. I noticed that it occurs much more often after using the car in heavy rain or in humid weather. I am assuming that a false "open door" signal is transmitted due to humidity. I checked the door and hood sensors, they work well and don't show any corrosion signs. Does anyone have any a clue on how to solve this problem?
Thanks,
Traian

It is a factory-installed alarm on a 2000 Accord SE.

Under the dash on driver side the alarm box is usually placed there. You should be able to unplug it from power there.

2002 accord speacial edition alarm goes off randomly while parked

More than likely, the sonic sensor has too much sensitivity, and some low level vibrations, such as exhaust noise from nearby cars/ trucks, thunder OR animals going under the car, might set it off. If you have the PRESTIGE alarm, the alarm box on the left kicker panel, has an adjusting screw for the sensitivity. If other brand, it probably has a way to adjust it as well. If it was a problem with doors/ trunk sensor, it would set off as soon as the alarm is armed, so i dont think this is your case.

Alarm goes off with no reason accord 2000 would like to disable it

I would recommend replacing the alarm control unit. This black plastic piece, located somewhere in the left kicker panel not only handles the sound alarm, but the flashing alarm, the keyless power locks and the theft code for the radio. It is rare that these boxes fail, more than likely a rusty sensor at the doors, trunk or hood will be the culprit. Mine goes off when cats go under the car, and cant figure why. Im making a decision on fixing the alarm, or fixing the cats.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord with a factory installed alarm. When I press the button on the clicker it won't disable it. The light on the clicker lights up and the battery is fine. I've tried manually...

When my alarm goes off, it usually happens when someone sticks their hand in the window to unlock the door. In order to turn off the alarm I close whichever door the person opened back, and unlock the door from the driver's side door. This usually turns the alarm off.
