Question about 2000 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

Dodge heater that doesn't work

Thanks for responding. Yes, I'm pretty sure that the heater gate is not opening. I've looked at all the heater control switches and vacuum lines and apparently I haven't taken it apart far enough to find the heater door. Do you know where I need to look for the door.

I can hear my heater door open and close, my temperature is around 190 on the gauge, both hoses, in and out of the heater core are hot when running, know leakage of the heater core.

When you go from a/c to heat on the controls it is supposed to flip the door. It will be under the dash on the passenger side. If you look at the firewall under the hood to locate the heatercore box, it is on the other side..... inside the car. I hope this isnt to confusing. I had a vehicle once that I had to manually reach under there and flip the door to change from heat to cool and vice versa. Hope this helps.

The back hatch on My 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette will not shut. I had the van locked while the gate was up and my mom tried slamming it.Could she have bent it or something please help and thanks

The short answer is yes, something could have bent when that gate was closed with the latch already closed. Look at the latch and make sure it wasn't jammed before you do a full replacement. If the latch is closed use a screw driver to open the latch while using the key to open the gate. Once you get the latch open try closing and locking the gate.

Vent's won't open-up or should i say can't get the car to give heat up. the car is a 1998 Dodge Caravan.

What temp dose it run at when on open road .
Have you checked the coolant and dose it feel rather warm after a run.
If yes to Question 2 then get and fit new thermostat ,,but make sure its fitted the correctly way around ( the spring looking bit towards the engine.)
OTHERWISE it could be the vacuum valve on the heater or on the heater pipes not opening up so as to let the hot water to pass through.

1998 dodge ram 1500 need to open up the tailgate

not sure what you mean by "sealed unit". if your problem is that your tailgate wont latch together properly, check the condition of the tailgate cables and look for damage to the outer covering and cable itself. it could be that the cable is getting caught b/w gate and bed when you close it. due to a misalignment. yes, i would lubricate the mechanisms with wd40, or a quality graphite lubricant. i would also access the internal mechanisms that actuate the tailgate opening. lubricate those parts too. finally make sure that the cable's tang is slid past on the bolt. this should fix your issues.

check to see if the water pump is circulating properly
check to see if the heater core is plugged
