This is NOT a VALID test of the charging system on these newer vehicles if that's what you were trying to do. As a matter of fact by doing that with engine running you run a risk of damaging the computer on this vehicle or blowing battery main fuses. DON'T DO THIS!!. Here is my suggestion to check everything out battery and alternator and starter. Take vehicle to an Auto Zone ,THEY CHECK CHARGING SYSTEMS FOR FREE. Have them check the battery alternator and if possible a starter draw test. Good Luck contact me if you need more info.

My car just suddenly went completely dead. Just parked it tried to lock it with key and no luck.

Your alternator went out. Replace that and recharge you battery fully. That will get you going again.

1997 ford escort battery new battery dead overnight no electrical works no blown fuses jump start and cables start to melt will push start and run

Check battery cables are correct ! Prime suspect here ! Alternator may be damaged and shorting .. Don't drive any car that will melt jumper cables ! Something very basic wrong here.

I would say that you need to replace the alternator. The car was running on the batteries power. When you drove the car, it ran the battery completely dead.

The battery is dead. Recharging (or replacing) the battery will remedy those symptoms you describe. Recharging the battery is a lot cheaper if you have access to a charger or can remove the battery and can take it to a service station for recharging.

sounds like a dead battery. Does it run while it is hooked to jumper cables and then die when they are disconnected? If so then you could have a dead alternator as well. The battery is primarily used to start the vehicle and then run all the electrical options. The alternators job is to recharge the battery and run the engine.

Clicking starter=car not starting

Regardless of the battery age, sounds to me as if you have a drain on the electrical system First thing to do is completely recharge battery. An initial quick inspection might show a light staying on, whether it be a door , reading, glove box, or trunk lights, among many other things. If nothing is obvious an electical reading of the system while removing and reinstalling fuses will show the circuit causing the drain, Hope this helps
