Is the water pump now leaking? There are other components that may have been damaged. The freeze out plugs in the engine block are designed to pop out if the coolant is not sufficient and freezes. This is to save the engine block from cracking, which may have happened. U need to get the car in a heated garage, fill system w/ water, check for leaks, and get the car running to again check for further leaks or problems. The radiator/heater core may also have been damaged. Only way to find out is to thaw it out and check it over carefully for leaks. Let me know how u make out.

How do i replace anti freeze in 08 gmc?

Get the anti freeze you are going to use first. Drain the radiator at the plug under it. Refill with water and proper amount of anti freeze for protection to the proper temp for your area.

My caddie keeps running hot and I want to know is it because I am using the wrong anti-freeze. Should I be using the orange anti-freeze instead of the green anti-freeze?

Never heard of the wrong anti-freeze. You're best bet is to check the temp sensor and replace it. It is what tells the system fans to "cool down"

My 2001 cadillac deville has check coolant level

If you added the green anti freeze to you system it will make the check coolent level light come on. Drain the system and use the extended life anti freeze and that will fix the problem.

Is it required to have radiator flashed and to fill with a new anti freeze?

Yes it is after every 4 years and also check the outstanding temp of the fluid depending on where you live but the coolent has a lub additive which protects your engine.........Hope this helps

What does the coolent temprature sesor look like on my xreg golf

  • It has a black connector by the cylinder head. Follow the radiator hose.
  • Before doing anything make sure the engine temp is cold.
  • Release pressure from reservoir by cracking the cap open.
  • Jack the car up and place on stands. Place a wide catching device right under the lower radiator hose.
  • There would be a valve you can open and close to evacuate the coolant from the system for servicing.
  • Pull the horse shoe lock from the sensor and replace new o-ring together with the sensor.
  • Reverse procedure when you are putting it back together.
  • Only use 50/50 Filtered water and VW G12 anti-freeze

1996 sunfire heater problem

i had this same problem 3 weeks ago.... i know someone who works for GM and this is a common problem with these cars. under your glove compartment where yout passanger feet will stretch to there is a dash plate, when you remove that look for a plug sticking down with 4 or 5 wires in it. Unplug the connector and there are two 5.5 mm (I think) screws. Not positive on the size. The one towards the front of firewall is tough to get, but that is your blowermoter resister, replace that an you should be fine...1777bd0.gif

Didnt have ant-freez in coolent system just water, just had a week of freezing temp, water pump was not working before, was gonna replace water pump but want to know what kind of damage i might b faceing

Well if the water pump was already inoperable prior to the freezing temp ,and assuming that vehicle was not severely overheated when water pump went out, This should just involve the changing of water pump and addition of proper antifreeze to cooling system..If the vehicle did overheat badly you could face many problems or could also be very lucky..( a little more detail would help at point of failure) worst possible thing is motor could be locked up, or you could be facing blown head gasket, cracked block, etc...) Answer back with details to get a more acurate diagnosis..
