Fuel delivery must be confirmed with a fuel pressure gauge on this vehicle. Disconnecting the fuel line and cranking the engine to see fuel shooting out does not confirm pressure, it only confirms fuel delivery. Remember you need both fuel delivery and pressure. On this vehicle if the psi is off by just one number that's enough to keep it from starting. Also replacing the coil and rotor (as you stated) does not confirm that spark is reaching the plugs. Confirm that both spark and adequate fuel pressure are reaching ALL the spark plugs.

I assume that you check the battery voltage to so when you check your coil did you check if you have spark in it?you said you check the fuel pump and it sending fuel to the fuel filter then you might check your fuel filter maybe clog sort of that...and if your car doesnt have a crank or anything you might check your timing belt or your starter check fuses starter signal if you dont hear any crank in it..let me know what happen.

Where are the points located in distributor cap of 1985 300zx-will this keep car from starting?

Remove rotor button and points are underneath. Usually capacitor is what fails and prevents starting. It is also located with the points. Replace both (cheap!) and adjust points and you may have a fix. If not, check are you getting fuel delivery? Do you have spark at the plugs?

1985 Nissan 300zx seems to be "missing".

suspect 1) bad spark plug(s) - change whole set if needed, (2) failing ignition coil (3) failing
distributor component(s), or (4) worn out distributor cap and/or rotor - if these need to be changed,
change both the cap and rotor as a set.
COST: if yo do any of these repairs yourself, your parts costs would be fairly low, but getting a garage
to rebuild your distributor could be costly

My 1987 300zx cranks but wont start.

I had the same problem last year mine turned out to be a crank sensor I don't know if that is your problem for sure mine wouldn't send any spark from the coil to the spark plug replaced crank sensor inside distributor and fired right up the dealership called it a cam sensor my book called it a crank sensor either way its in the distributor
