Question about 2004 Chevrolet Malibu
I just had to replace the car battery in my 2004 Malibu since the old
one died. After the battery was replaced, the CD player no longer
works. It worked fine before. The radio works. We tried disconnecting
and reconnecting the battery and removing and replacing the fuse for
the radio. CD player still doesn't work.
The CD player is a 6-CD changer and it has 6 CDs in it. When I press
the eject button, it says that the player is empty. When I press the
load button, it says "Load single disk," which of course, I can't do.
The radio works, so it's not locked. Even so, I thought I'd try entering the unlock code, but I can't get it. I tried to retrieve the radio unlock code by pressing #2 and #3 and also #1 and #4 on the radio, but nothing happens.
I called the dealer and they told me that there is probably something wrong with the CD player, that the CD player not working immediately after the battery was replaced is just a coincidence, but I really find that hard to believe. They want at least $50 just to check it out.
I've seen elsewhere where people have had this problem and sometimes unhooking the battery helps and sometimes removing and replacing the radio fuse helps. I even saw one guy who said his CD player just suddenly started working again.
Is there anything else I can try? And if not, how can I get the 6 CD's out?
The only thing i can sagest is that you leave the battery disconnected over night this may reset the cd player and it may

Recognise that it has cds in it
the only other thing i can think of is that when it says enter single disk only that you do so to a point don't let it go all the way in
this may make the cd player think there is a disk in there
hope this helps
