The power seats in my 2004 Suburban (heated leather seats) move the opposite direction you push the switch. it also seems the seat will not go all the way back. I feel like there is at least 6 more inches of travel there but it just stops.

If it will go forward but not back, you just have a dirty switch. Some WD-40 will clear that right up.

We have no idea of the issue

Could be in the wiring
Could be a failed switch
Could be a mechanical issue under the seat
Could be a seat motor

All that you should already know

the reason-- then a repair may or may not want the job.

IF you have a manually adjusted seat then check that the wires/cables from the lever to the tracks are still attached . If you have electric adjusted check for power to the motor.

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

1998 Cougar power seat works in all directions except forward

THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF THIS IS THE SEAT SWITCH (WIGGLE THE SWITCH WHILE YOU TRY TO MOVE THE EAT), IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT U WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE POWER SEAT TRANSMISSION, A VERY EXPENSIVE PART, SO TRY THE SWITCH 1ST.

Passenger seat back will not move either direction

Motor on the seat may have gone out, contacts in switch got dirty or worn, or assembly reached limit and stuck. Try sitting in it pushing back hard and adjust. If not youll need to replace switch,b take seat apart to fix or replace.
