It is a ground problem. When you turn on your headlights, they are sharing the same ground that your brake and T/S lights are using. Check all ground connections to the body from all headlight and taillight wiring are connected and tight. If it doesn't affect your taillights, it may be in your T/S switch. Check your ground connections first.
If the headlight makes any kind of noise when you try to shut it then you need to either replace the motor and gears or just the gears. The kits to rebuild them are sold by suppliers of parts for Pontiac cars. Just google it.
Headlight motor gears are stripped. It will only get worse and fail to raise up when you really need it. Skip the rebuild kits on ebay and get a quality unit and replace it. Other side is just as old.. be ready! Good luck
chances are ur headlight motor is going bad and will need replacing soon....lots of cars with the pop up headlights do this. its pretty common, no big deal. go on ebay and get the part though. the dealership will charge at least 50 but ebay about 15
This problem is caused by the headlight gear being stripped. If you go on ebay, there is someone who sells brass headlight gears. Once you put the gear in, you will not have this problem again. . . unless the other gear goes bad. It's usually the driver's side headlight that does it.
In the engine comaprtment or under the dash panel or at the sides of the dash panel check fuses if its not the fuse do you hear the motor if not its the motor that makes it go up and down./ Please rate my response thank you very much
It could be the motors that raise up the headlights are dead. Try replacing those and check the connectors to the motors for any damage. Also use a volt meter to see if the motor is getting any power and work from there. I know when mine was starting to go out it made a terrible noise when the headlight came down and then I could not just turn on my fog lights without the headlight coming up on the light with the motor that was going out. Hope this helps you out.
