thank you very much, but there are not bubbles in the liquid and the coolant level is fine. How much would it be to replace my head gasket?

Thank you so much everyone! It was sadly a blown head gasket =[

Though i apperciate you taking time to resolve my problem.

When you pull the oil dipstick out, do you see any plain oil or is everything white? Is it thick and pasty or is it frothy and runny? I've never heard of this but all responders agree that it must be a blown head gasket which can be quite expensive depending on who does it.

Are you seeing bubbles in the oil? The only thing I can think of is that you have a blown head gasket and the oil and antifreeze is mixing. Is the coolant level low?

You have water/moisture in your oil. Your head gasket may be leaking. Try changing your oil and filter first. Check it again at a later time.

Engine management light on car runs fine

Service engine soon or check engine light? Engine light needs scanned for codes. Service engine soon is for oil changes and such. To get rid of service lights, turn the key on, press the gas pedal three times within five seconds. The light will flash. turn the key off. it's reset. At least check or change the oil and filter though.

I have a 97 Chevy Lumina. It has 276,*** miles on it. I bought it used 4 months ago. It was running excellent then the service engine soon light, low coolant light, and change oil soon light started coming...

The fact that the oil was low would not be from the oil pump, but from wear in the engine. If it is not smoking when you start it or as you drive, you can probably keep it running by just keeping the oil level checked at each fuel fill-up. As for the car shutting off, you didn't say if the engine seized or got real hot. A low oil pressure problem should have triggered a warning light before the problem got to the point where you lost the engine.

If the car ran after you added the oil, you got lucky and need to always check it.

My change oil light never goes off even though I had it changed and now my service vehicle soon light is on even though its been running fine

The change oil light needs to be reset after each oil change...some shops are not knowledgeable on how to do this...Your owners manual will instruct you how to reset the oil change light...The service engine soon is a catch all for low fluids and other needs...Be sure to check your oil level again...to clear the service engine soon light, you can disconnect either battery cable for 15 minutes then reconnect...if the service engine stays on...then you need to have your Grand Am checked...Auto Zone does a free diagnostic of check engine light codes...:)

When I start my 2001 alero the anti-lock, traction light, service engine soon, service vehicle soon lights all stay on all the time. But my car seems to be running fine. Why is this?

the anti-lock and traction lights will come on together if there is a common problem with the two, since they are closely related. may be a wheel speed sensor or something similar. the service engine soon light indicates a problem with the engine computer, can be anything from an emission system problem or an engine performance problem. all of these lights can come on with no apparent running problems on the car. the service vehicle soon light is basically a maintenance reminder, an oil change light. take the car into a shop and have the codes read for these lights.

Car seemed hesitant when started service engine soon light on

There are many things that can cause the light to come on. Generally if it is serious most 'check engine' or 'service engine' lights will blink. The simplest (and cheapest) method to diagnose the problem is to take the car to AutoZone and they will read the computer codes free of charge and tell you exactly what it is (such as the oxygen sensor got a bad reading and needs a reset, or its time for an oil change... etc.)

Engine 258 i6 was running great - suddenly started to run rough and stall at idle - will start and run but not idle - when revving it smokes alot

Pull the plugs & have a look at them. Look for oil deposits, or liquid on them. Are you losing any coolant? Is it using any oil suddenly?

Change oil soon light stays on and service engine soon light has come on.

You reset the change oil soon light by a couple of different ways depending on your model. Your owners manual will let you know. Some is by depressing the accelerator when car is not running but in accessories mode on ignition. Others you can reset through the radio. Take a look at your owners manual on this. For the service engine soon light, take it to a autozone and they will run a diagnostic for free. Then they can tell you just what is going on and will have the part to fix it. It is probably an oxygen sensor if it is otherwise running fine. good luck and I hope this helps.
