And i have checked the fuse but its a cartridge maxi fuse so i cant tell if anything is wrong with that. But what i do know is that socket that it plugs into is burnt. So i'm thinking that's the reason right there, but i just don't know what to do
You might have burned a wire in two... but i bet that fuse blew
you might be right. But like i said its a cartridge fuse so its hard to tell whats wrong with it. But i'm going to change it anyways. but burning the wire in two is probably exactly what happen because the digital dash and the radio is out, but everything else is fine
will I have to get a whole new fuse box?
no just try to trace down the wire and splice it back together. a multimeter would be very helpful right now

on the radio's wiring harness, red and yellow are power and memory and black is ground. connect those to a 12v battery and radio will function so you can remove cd.
SOURCE: My battery recently died in my 2007 focus hatch
My radio can be on even without the key in (01 focus) maybe the radio is directly wired to the battery cable and your wire has been fried or damaged from the 'jumping'. You may want to carefully inspect the little wires attached to your actual battery connectors.
That's my guess.

Does the CD door open or is it stuck open? If it is open look to see if you have a jammed CD. This happened to me and this is what I did. A CD had gotten off track and jammed the CD changer turn table. I stuck a little key in the slot and was able to pull the CD out. This fixed my problem. Hope it helps.

16mm plug spanner, a regular socket is ok so long as it is a tight fit.
Use an extender and a crossbar on the socket instead of a ratchet, that way you can keep the socket dead straight.

I can tell you that there is a difference in ATF for a Chrysler and a Ford. The Ford usually has Red fluid and the Chrysler has Clear. That may be what happened to the trans. The torque converter may have gone out, which the lurching in 1st gear could be a lockup problem inside the torque converter. Then when the torque converter breaks your engine is not connected to the transmission.
You should have done a compression test or electronic cylinder balance test on #8.
