1996 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab; I tilted the center console into the up position, the 3rd time in 13 years, but this time I can't put it back down. I hear it clicking in the driver side when I rock it back and forth. Can't find anything to depress or unstick.

The button that releases the top cover also pulls the pin that holds the cover upright pin may have ncome unhooked from the rod. If so shimming the pin may be the quick fix.

Mine is doing the same thing, what i found out is that if you put one hane on it, on the opposite top rear corner and as you are pulling down also pull towards the other corner, in other words, sitting in the drivers seat you will place your hand on the top of the console between the pass. seat and the console, now put pressure on the con by pulling it toward yourself, now down at the same time.

Hi my name is Allen!

The most likely cause is the lock that holds it in place is sticking, you can try to lube it with a gel lubricant and see if that helps. If this doesn't work unfortunately it will have to be replaced.

For further asistance you may reach me at FixYa!

I got it unstuck using a narrow strip of metal and the help of an assistant. I removed the screw and the vinyl cover from the pair of black structural metal slats that support the console on the driver side With a penlight look between the slats below the pivot point of the driver side joint for a shiny steel hub that looks like the head of a pawl or a pin. You can see it track toward the rear and halt as you pull the console forward. I stuck the metal strip into the joint and pushed on the pawl while the assistant rocked the console. I think it was pushing it leftward that cleared it. My assistant thinks otherwise...

Where is the fuse for the cig lighters on a 2008 dodge ram 1500 act located ? Is there anything else that would cause them to both stop work at the same titiine?

I'm not familiar with your truck, but, from reading up there is an aux socket in center console and then cig sockets. These are seperate circuits, centre is perm powered, cig sockets not.

When you say more than one has stopped, is it 2 x cig or 1 x cig and 1 x console?

I'd be checking the fuse and relay box under the hood, front wing sort of location (depends on year and such so I may be off here) for some circa 20 amp fuses (yellow in uk).

found this, which may or may not be the right numbers as is a different year perhaps:

Your cigarette lighter is powered by fuse #29 in the integrated power module. The power outlet is powered by #26 and if the power outlet in the center console is not working, this one is #42

The windows in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 stopped going to down all at the same time and now they are stuck in the down position....

If i understand you correctly, you would roll down all the windows at once? Most vehicles electrical systems arent designed to work this way. It sounds like rely has failed. Open the hood and locate the power window relay in the electrical control center and swap it out with one from a working componet. If the windows work, then buy a new relay. If not, locate the power window fuse inside the truck and test it. Hope this helps :)

1997 Dodge Ram Console

Thats a whole different ballpark. The center seat consoles do not lock upright at all there is no locking device, you just lift it up and it has a small bump that the lever hops over and this keeps it from falling back down. The only thing I can think of is something could be wedged in the lever or the rotating level itself is broken and holding the seat up. You may be able to see what is holding it if you move the drivers seat as far forward as possible and watch carefully on one side while wiggling the console back and forth and then do the same on the other side. If could be the lever bent and you may be able to bent it back into plce where it should be.

Let me know what you find, in the mean time I will check the Chrysler Star Hotline to see if there was a simular problem.

Dodge Center Console

When I told you to lube it, I was assuming you were talking about the cup holder in the center, lower part of the dash, if I was correct then the proper way to open it if its working properly is the push in on it and then it should come down to expose the cup holders. To close it you lift it and push in on it to lock back in the upright position.

You were speaking of the cup holder correct?

The center console in the dodge truck locks in the up position when the brake is applied. the lock maybe stuck or if you have your foot on the brake when you are trying to lower it.
