Voice Activation I just purchased a 2005 A8 and I dont understand how the voice activation works. I get in the car and press the voice button but can not get the car to do what I want it to. It does not reconize any of my commands. Also it keeps taking me on OnStar. Why?

Ref: Audi MMI : The voice commands are in the Operations manual for the MMI. The precondition for MMI Voice Control is a multifunctional Steering Wheel but this does not mean the car you purchased actually has Voice control installed. The easiest way to find out all of these unknown questions about your Used Audi is take your Vehichle ID document which contains the Chassis number, to an Audi dealer. Go to the parts department and ask them to print out a list of the equipment which was installed in your car when it was Manufactured. This list should not cost you anything, but then I purchased my Audi in Europe, the U.S. has it's own bowl of soup. If it's installed in your car, then it should be activated by pushing and holding the Voice button on the right side
of your steering wheel when the Ignition key is on and waiting for a voice/beep to indicated the status of the voice command feature.
There are also preconditions for activation in the users manual for MMI. Good luck.

I have a 2006 A8 and if you need help with the command say "help mmi" or when you are in one of the following modes: radio, CD, or Navigation. you can say "help ." This should provide you with all the commands the voice command can understand.

I have a 2016 Honda Accord Sport. I have no problem answering my phone but can't get the voice activation system to work.

Since this is a new car under warranty consult the dealer, you may have a defective module or a computer flash is needed to correct a built in problem..

2005 RL Hands free link will not disconnect. No radio

I would try a hard reset. This is done by turning the key on, disconnecting the battery cables, isolating them from the battery posts and connecting them with a jumper wire. This will clear the power from all the capacitors in the audio and HFL systems and hopefully reset them. Leave the cables jumped together for 20 minutes and recheck. Make sure you have your radio and navi codes handy as you will need them to get past the anti theft functions.

My radio will not work....when you turn on the key and press the on button, it will light up just for a few seconds, then nothing....could it be a fuse??

it could be. i'd remove the radio and ensure all plugs are installed tightly. if that doesn't work, hum a tune or bring someone along with a good singing voice.

I just want to know if some cars have a reset botton if you run out of gas

YES, THE ONES THAT YOU RACE IN A VIDEO GAME ONLY. THE ALSO CRASH AND YOU DONT GET HURT, YOU CAN HOWEVER GET AAA/CAA/ROADSIDE ASSIST AND PRETEND THE CALL NUMBER IS RESET BUTTON..THAT MAKE TOW TRUCK APPEAR IN 20 MINUTES AFTER VOICE ACTIVATION.

MOST CARS HAVE A RESERVE TANK OF 68KM, OR MORE ONCE TEH LOW GAS LIGHT COME ON. FYI

2005 audi a8 trunk + upgrades for ipod integration

I had exact same problem, but what I found out was a three step solution to the problem.
1) The trunk lock above the trunk lid tself - sometimes looses coiling retention for the lock to work properly, which in effect does not properly lock wrap around the pull down electronic unit located in the body of the car/trunk that catches and pull the trunk lid down SOLUTION: check and make sure lock is works properly. you cab check by opening trunk and locking it with remote key, then pry the lock with a screw driver to see if it unlocks or stays locked

2) The motor catching unit in the body of the car/trunk that catches the lid and draws it down can be off balance (sitting too low to catch the lock (upper trunk lid with lock) to pull it down and stay locked. Have a mechanic - Audi preferrably, check the positon and allignment to adjust it, so it can catch trunk lid and lock to stay locked. HOPE THIS HELPS!
