Question about 2004 Ford F150

1 Answer

Yeah, we also tried that

Yes, we tried that and also noticed when we turn the ignition switch on, we could even hear the relay kick on...all relays seem to be working and it's feeding power to the fuel pump, I just cant figure out why once i start it, it's not getting fuel, and eventually dies. Especially if I push the throttle.

OK check your MAF sensor. It works offa 5 volt reference signal. Use a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) and not an analog meter. If you go to www.alldatadiy.com you can purchase a repair manual subcription good for 1 yaer for less than $20.00. Well worth the money. It will have all the test procedures there as well as wirinf diagrams, component locations TSB's and everything you need to know.

Nissan maxima 2000, related ignition switch but still as soon as battery is connected the relay clicks (near battery 3rd one) and tries to start the car without even key in the ignition...

the relay should not have any power to it. i would think there is a sort some were on the ignition. i would check the ignition wiring and make sure its not damaged or assembled wrong. relay should only get power when the key is in ignition and turned to start engine.

Where is the starter relay on a 1995 Mitsubishi Mighty Max PU

It sounds more like you have a bad connection somewhere or possibly a weak battery.

It wont start I thought it was the starter sticking put a new one on it so then it started fine until this morning when I turn key over all I hear is one click on the fire wall on the passenger side then...

That must be the starter relay that is clicking. I know some Celica enthusiasts used to talk about old wiring in the starting circuit causing such problems-too much resistance in the old wiring and connections. Some of them ran new wire from the ignition switch to the starter relay and a new wire from the relay to the starter. One guy bypassed the old relay and added a new one just off the battery, with all new wires. He said it solved the problem.
I don't know if this is your problem. You could have something else, like a clutch switch that is erratic, maybe even the relay is failing. Try pulling the relay out and look for corrosion at the terminals-that could be the problem.

Fuel pump not engaging

did you check the fuse for it ??

if the wires and relay are good that's the second part of the circuit..the first part is the one that triggers the relay from the ignition switch.. you will need to check that..

you can also bypass the relay and connect the pump directly to the battery to get the car home or to a shop, just remember to take out the wires after,

the problem I'm thinking is in the ignition switch. it could be the wires or a faulty switch this needs to be checked,, to do this, Pull the cover of the relay, you will notice a coil and 2 contacts.. turn the ignition on, press the contacts together and try starting now, if it starts it means its the ignition switch.

ps don't forget to rate this if you found it helpful as it can be of help to others as well.

My dodge ram 1500 will not start. when you turn the ignition nothing happens. all the panel lights come but none of the guage hands move . could it be the ignition switch?

yes, or the relay. Look in relay box under hood. Ignition relay should click when key is turned on. If not, replace relay. Much cheaper than a switch. May still be the switch, but relay is worth a try.

I have a 06 ion and battery checks good but the car will not turn over at all, not even a click. could this be a bad starter or starter relay?

If only clicked then I'd say bad neutral safety switch but with no click which is a relay then you may have an ignition switch problem. That's in the steering column coming from the key ignition or the starter relay is fried.
