Question about 2000 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

No power to passenger doors or locks

I have a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi and the driver door is the only door the is operable with the keyless entry or the master switch. The other door switches do not work either for their perspective doorsThe technician claims that it's the master switch and that replacing it will cause the other three doors to work. I just read a problem that shared the same problem and replacing the master switch didn't solve it, what can be done if that is the case with my car?

The ultimate solution is just to get another car. I have been searching all the different problems with my 2000 Bonneville and so far I have come across literally hundreds of people with the same problems I have with my car, windows not working, door locks not working, heater working now and then, security light issues, etc., etc. Its a bad manufacturing job. You ca replace relays, modules and whatever else the techs tell you, and it will go out again.

You can test to see if the master switch has failed. Just take it out and use an ohmmeter to see if the switch is closing the circuit. Use the wiring diagram to figure out which pins are which. You can also try to unlock the other doors from the master switch connector by crossing the power terminal to the unlock terminal.

Double press and hold the entry button to reset all doors to open. The key fob as set itself to driver door only by the sounds of it.
Take the battery out and leave a few minutes, then insert and pair. ( driver door open )

SOURCE: Trunk wont open where is emergency switch inside trunk

I had the same problem as you. Take out the back seat and there is a large access hole to the interior. There are two bolts that are fairly easy to get to. Remove them and the truck latch is removed from the lid and trunk will open.

2002 pontiac bonneville locks and interior lights doesnt work

This may be a bad rear integrated control module. or connection or wiring to it.
REAR INTEGRATION MODULE (RIM)
The CTD system is an internal function of the rear integration module (RIM) which utilizes class 2 serial data and various switch input information to perform CTD functions. When the RIM detects an unauthorized entry, the RIM sends a message via the serial data circuit to the DIM to activate the horns and exterior lamps. The RIM has 5 basic modes. Disarmed, standby, delayed, armed, and alarm for operating the CTD system. The 5 modes transition from one step to the next in the following order:

When in the disarmed mode, ignition is OFF and any door is open the RIM commands the instrument cluster to flash the SECURITY indicator via the class 2 serial data circuit. The RIM has the CTD system in a disarmed mode until the following conditions are detected:

Ignition key turned to the OFF position
Any door open
Doors locked by either the power door lock switch or the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter

The RIM enters the standby mode when the above conditions are detected. In standby mode the RIM commands the instrument cluster to illuminate the SECURITY indicator via the class 2 serial data circuit. If all the doors are closed and the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter is used, the RIM enters the delayed mode.
When the last door is closed, the RIM enters the delayed mode for 30 seconds . In delayed mode the RIM commands the instrument cluster to illuminate the SECURITY indicator on steady via the class 2 serial data circuit.
After 30 seconds , the RIM enters the armed mode. In armed mode the RIM commands the instrument cluster to turn off the SECURITY indicator via the class 2 serial data circuit. Any forced entry activates the alarm mode.

IMPORTANT: The CTD system can be armed with the windows or sunroof open.

My 2001 Bonneville only 1 window works the drivers side. I know all the motors are good . What could it be?

Terrell, some of the wires may be pinched or may have broken over time in the bundle of wires that go through the driver side pillar and into door from constant flexing of opening and closing door. I believe the master switch on drivers door is where the power gets sent to the other window controls. In the links below, some talk about moisture getting inside the plug to a controller for the windows. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2000 Lincoln Towncar. Keypad on door will not unlock doors. Interior lights do come on. The last two keys pushed simultaneously will occasionally lock the doors. I am using the code printed on a sticker in...

The driver door module (DDM) is connected on the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network. The DDM controls many functions including power windows, power door locks and remote keyless entry. The DDM also communicates with the driver seat module (DSM) to control the power mirror and seat memory functions.
Do you know anything about automotive electronic control modules ?
The driver door module (DDM) receives inputs from the digital transmission range (DTR) sensor, ignition switch, seat switch, window/door lock switches, lighting control module (LCM), keyless entry keypad switch and remote transmitter. The DDM outputs consists of keyless entry keypad switch illumination, power door lock actuators, luggage compartment release solenoid, horn relay, and lighting control module (LCM).
Best thing to do would be to have a factory scan tool hooked up to check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . That should be the first step if it's not programming the code.
  • The doors do not lock/unlock using the keyless entry keypad
  • Keypad.
  • Circuitry.
  • Driver door module (DDM).
  • GO to Pinpoint Test L .
