Dodge ram sputtering in low rpms

My 95 dodge ram will sputter and idle seems to be very low. when i push on the gas it will sputter about until 1500 rpms and then runs like a champ. it will go when its sputtering but it seems like it wants to die or the engine is getting choked out for some reason. this just started like 2 days ago.

If the sputter got real bad, I could smell what smelled like weed eater gas inside the cabin. As you could also imagine, there is a loss of power.

My 95 dodge ram 1500 with 5.2 starts and idles fine but when im driving it around 25 to 55 it wants to start chugging like when your in a stick shift car and your in to high of a gear for your rpm and it...

Me thinks it needs a tune-up. You can do it yourself. This guy is old enough. But hubby is the expert. Will sent your problem to him. A tune-up equals shake out the air-filter - knock it against the curb. Then check the plugs, and their gaps. If it has those. Back in the day, we used to be able to work on our own cars. Driving a 95 Odyssey with a Real Carb, and real tranny. Ergo, this might help. - JW

Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

2001 Dodge Ram 1500 engine sputters at low rpm

hello i am a independent shop owner and i recently had a 01' dodge 1500 5.2L engine and it seemed to have the same symptoms as your car, i checked fuel pressure and it seemed to be around 49 which is still considered normal and also i did check the distributor cap and each spark point had corroded parts on the tips but before i replaced any parts i disconnected the bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor and noticed that the car never sputtered again.. so in my case i recommended to my customer to first replace the o2 sensor! Hope this helps cheers!
