Turn the engine over for at least a minuit in 2 or 3 intervals. (NEVER HOLD THE STARTER MORE THAN 25seconds at ONE TIME) pull out a spark plug or two and see if their wet and smell like gass, then you know if its getting fuel. You will need a long 3/8'' extension cuz its overhead cam but the front plugs are easy to get to. If the plugs are dry then pull all the plugs and poor no more than a 1/4 ounce of clean gass in each cylinder of your inline 4, reinstall each plug as you have added fuel connect the plug leads again and start it. if it starts momentarily you've varified the proplem. If the plugs were wet apone the first test verify you have spark, pull one plug & reconnect it to the plug lead touch the bottom of the plug to the engine block (away from its hole) and get some one to crank the engine darker the environment the better and look for a brightblue spark it should be their on all leads. Hope you find somthing

Do I have a fuel pump fuse and where would it be at ?

Better to test the pump relay with a meter or a test light. The relay could have failed.
The relay and the fuse should be in the fuse box near the battery.
Check your owners manual for details.

Car ran out of gas and has been hard to crank every since. I don't hear the fuel pump prime but I do hear the relay click. There is no gas expelled or pressure coming from schrader valve and also batt

the fuel pump is burnt out. the pump uses the fuel to cool itself. running low fuel the pump heats up and burns the plastic gears inside. thats why the fuse blew. need to take out gas tank to change pump.

Will not start I don,t hear fuel pump run

when you turn key to on position, not start position, you say you cannot hear pump hum for a few seconds, correct ? first check fuses, then find fuel pump relay, it may have a fuse in it also. I would replace relay first. after the fuses of course. if you still don't hear pump run, then your pump is most likely the problem. its in your tank. one more thing, make sure all grounds are good in this circuit. it could be that simple. good luck

My car doesn't start but the battery is fine. The engine fuses are fine. There is no fuel going into the engine. What could the problem be? I already replaced the fuel pump. my car is 96 Dodge grand...

put a funnel in the gas nozzle have someone turn ignition on to almost start, but don't. You should hear pump running before you start your van if you don't hear the pump you know you have a defective pump if you hear the pump purchase a fuel filter try that if not possibly could the relay not sure where its at but could finds out for you.good luck

I have a 2005 kia rio.i started my car, started ok ran for a min and then just shut turns over but does not start.

Could be a million things but my first guess is no fuel from pump. The car would run for a little while while it burned up what was left in the fuel line then die and not restart. Try turning key to ON position (not just ACC) and listen, do you hear the fuel pump in the tank come on and pump for 3 or 4 seconds every time you put the key in the ON position? If you don't hear the pump you probably aren't getting any fuel, check the fuse under the hood (the underside of fuse block cover will say which is the pump fuse, also check the pump relay that's also in there near the fuse).
If you do hear the pump it could possibly be a clogged fuel filter but also many other things, fuel is my first guess though.

Hi there, My 1998 K1500 chevy is awesome but recently it refuses to start unless I spray starting fluid on the air filter and then it catches. The engine turns fine but just doesn't seem to be getting...

This might sound a little strange, but try it. Disconnet you fuel pump relay and clean the electrical connections with a #2 pencil eraser and then connect everything back up.

Had something like that bug me for months and finally decided that it had a bad fule pump relay, so I went out a purchased one, BUT they sold me the wrong one, but didn't realize it until I had it disconnected. Cleaned the connections and has worked every since.

I place a vhs tape into my player and the engine died, Now it wont start turns over good but thats all it does. What to do?

I really don't think that the VHS tape had anything to do with the vehicle not starting. I think that this might just be a fluke. If the vehicle is turning over then I would look at the fuel pump and the fuel pump relay to make sure that they are working correctly. You will be able to hear your fuel pump making noise for about 2 seconds. If all of that checks out ok then I would start looking at the fuses and making sure that nothing did actually pop.

I have a Mercedes 2003 C230. Checked my Fuel line, Fire to Ignition, and Change Camshaft Position Sensors. Car Cranks but still does not start. What else should I look at?

Turn the key and listen for a hum (keep doors closed but a window down and radio off). Don't turn the key all the way to try to crank it, just the turn to get all the lights in the dash on. If you hear a slight hum or buzz that last a second or two that is your fuel pump. If you don't hear it, check your fuse for the fuel pump, if that is not blown, your fuel pump may have gone out.

It is not starting its like not catctching

94? I'd start looking towards a fuel pump. Listen for a 2 second buzz from the rear. If you don't hear it time to shop for a new fuel pump.P.S. Rarely is it a fuse.......
