does this problem happen when you turn the vents to recirculate?

Also, after driving and having this problem, you should be parking in a clean area so you can inspect what is leaking from your car. You have oil, transmission fluid, break fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant to choose from. Remember smoke doesn't come from no where. Find your leak!

Remember does it happen when the vents are turned to recirculate. If so, you may have an electrical problem. Electrical smoke has a very distinktive smell so be on the look out for this. Let me know what you find and I can give you better answers.

The same problem happened to me and it turned out to be my heater core.

Normally smoke will come from the heater core when it needs to be replaced.

Also the smell is most likely anti-freeze and and you normally smell it when your
engine is running warm or hot.

Check your coolant levels to be sure. and the hoses leading to your Heater Core

heater cores for that vehicle normally run $180 - $230 and you need to remove your
entire Instrument Panel (IP) (Dashboard) to replace it.

I hope this helps!

It shares the vents with the heater system, It may be steam with coolant in it. Check your coolant reservoir and see if you are loosing coolant.

Occasional Sudden smoke from under rear-passenger door (in breather)

This is the Diesel Cabin Heater. It will only come on when it is cold and comes on automatically when you start the car. If you do a short journey you will often see smoke coming out and occasionally hear some noise. It can continue to run for a few minutes. There are no controls for it but you will see a yellow light on the dashboard next to the right hand indicator light. It will only operate if it is cold and you have more than 100-120 miles of fuel left in the tank.

One of two things has happened. Either your coolant has gotten really low (easy enough to check) or you heater core is starting to plug up.

My Heater runs cold until rpms go beyond 2000! What may be the cause

if the vent doors are vacuum controlled you may have a cracked or loose vacuum line and reving the engine gives it enough vacuum to pull the door open.

I am a owner of a 2000 cadillac catera and my driver and passanger side vents blow only cold air when the heat is on. Please help!

THIS PROBLEM OF NO HEAT IS CAUSED BY A FAILED AC/HEATER AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL BLEND DOOR OR BY THE MOTORIZED ACTUATOR THAT MOVES THAT DOOR, THESE ARE THE ONLY PARTS THAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS COMMON IN LATE MODEL CARS SINCE THE 90'S, THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE DASH MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE CAR TO ACCESS THESE PARTS.

2000 catera cold weather start problems

Is fuel and spark reaching the plugs? Spray some carburetor cleaner into the intake. DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID. If the car starts or makes an attempt to start you know that the problem is a fuel delivery issue.
