Sounds like a fault in pick up module or coil??? you should test them before replacement.

Why does my 1993 geo prizm have no spark or fuel?

old cars.... (old OBD1 , i know well)

skipping the 60k mile tuneup is 99% here. nobody tunes old cars they drive them to death. (stats facts)

there can not be fuel, if no spark, the ECU does detect no spark (most times) and then cuts fuel (to you dont crash and burn as seen on TV)

that is a fact.

so its just spark. and this engine unstated Toyota engine.

has EFI

and as such, the ECU, (EFI brain) makes spark.

the ECU listens to the crank (CKP) and CAM (cmp) sensors

and then fires the IGNITIOR (coil driver)

the ECU will puke DTC errors if CMP or CMP fails.

we see that cranking with the the Diagnostic TE1 jumper in place

the ECU can report dead spark to with its own DTC error codes.

here is my list for old funky engines.

1: compressing at 150PSI + , no ? its 80 the cam belt slipped or is snapped, if snapped the distributor rotor stalls

2: spark good times 4?

4: ok compression at spec, and spark good 4by4.

5: test fuel work ? now? runs for 3sec?

yes, runs and stalls, that is called fuel loss.

no, it must be flooding did you do the spark tip checks for flooding

see this link then go to toyota nation and learn the TE1 jumper

method of testing.

put in a 10cent jumper wire, and crank for 5 seconds , release

key, see flash codes ,bingo ? this works on all OBD1 cars made.

Fuel pump fuse is good. didn't drop the tank. did tune up day before . cap, rotor, plugs . drove 15 -20 miles then died. still sound like ignition switch?

ok slow down, it stalls, that is all we need, no need guess.
and tune up don, but you skipped the fuel filter? and air filter,?

STALLS 101.
1: lost 12vdc to EFI system. lost elect. power. easy to test , easy to see. you can attach a DMM set to 12v at the IGN output wire.
and see if it drops to zero as engine dies. sure can.

2: you could , check for spark at death, got spark
and work that path if spark fails.
3: lost fueling, (sparks soaked in fuel x 4? ) then its flooding
if dry spark tips x4 then lost fueling , so try test fuel.

you failed to say, is this a hard fail , i t dont run now.
or is always random... just a lil hint.
assuming power is hot at all EFI fuses.
then fails only 3 ways,
1: lost compression hot (if solid lifters, lash never set)
2: lost spark'
3: lost fuel or flooding.

if flooding use WOT, in this super secret mode works, Wide open throttle cranking, clears floods. (ecu cuts all fuel in this mode)

I have a 1993 4.3 6 cyl chevy S-10, it starts fine when you give it a little gas then when you start driving it 5 to 8 minutes later it is spitting and sputtering misfiring and backfiring give it a little...

5 years ago for cap & rotor???? It sounds like it's in dire need of a complete tune up - plugs. wires, cap, rotor, all fluids & filters ESPECIALLY fuel filter. I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it. Do your tune ups more frequently like every 30K - not wait 5 years!

1993 Buick Century, what makes the car stall when giving it gas, and engine seems to want to stop, if no gas is getting through. Other keep saying check gas filter, fuel pump or relay. by the way where is...

The relay, if it has electric fuel pump, is in the engine compartment either mounted on the sides or firewall or in a fuse box in the compartment. Check your timing and run carburetor/Injector cleaner cleaner though the engine. Try replacing plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor as well. It sounds as if you are flooding not running out of fuel.

Is there any codes in the computer that will help with the diagnoses? The mapp sensor or mass air flow, witch ever it has could be the problem.Check the fuel pressure also.

Changing plugs in '04 grand marquis.

The new system is called a DIS (digital ignition system). Plugs are changed the same as usual, just without the cap and rotor. Instead of a single coil, now the new system has COPs (Coil over plugs) installed, these are recommended to be replaced around 75000miles and they are costly. hopefully this helps

1993 toyota corrola stalls.

I thing that the main problem turned out to be a bad ignition coil. On '93 Corollas, you can remove the ignition coil without removing the distributor. (You only need to remove the distributor cap and rotor.) you mention that u already replace couple of parts but i suggest to get the original part from Toyota spare part
