Question about 1996 GMC Jimmy
Just had a rear axile repaired and 4 wheel drive now this problem. Had an oil change in October and brake fluid full at that time, could it have leaked out when being worked on or is it a brake problem.
The red brake light can come on for several different reasons, one is if the fluid is low, if this is not the case the switch in the master cyl. resivor may be faulty. unplug it and jumper the wires together and see if the light goes out, if so the switch is bad. the other place that the wireing may be a problem is at the parking brake. the same process applies to testing the switch and wireing as the master cyl. if these do not seem to help then you may need to pull the codes out of the electronic brake controller and diag according to the fault codes that are set. hope this helps.
