Need to change brakes on a 2004 Alero Olds...

My sister and I have to do this due to financial problems.
Neither of us has ever changed brakes.
Are there instructions online somewhere?
Thanks.

You can get a manual for under $20, such as Haynes, from many parts stores. A simple brake change with no other problems isn't too hard. Generally if you take one side apart at a time, so you can reference what it looked like before you took it apart by looking at the other side, you can easily get it done! Being short on $ the manual will show you how to do lots of other stuff, so it's a good investment!
Good Luck!!

You need an OBII scanner to reset service lights. You can buy one from about $60 and up... OR you can go to an Autozone, Advance or any good auto parts store and they'll do it FREE

Oldmobile alero 2004

Take off the wheel, then use a c-clamp and put it on the back side of the calipers and on the outside brake pad. That will make it easier to take off. Then there will be two bolts with the heads on the inside that go through the caliper that need to be taken off. After that the rotor can simply be beaten off with a rubber mallet, no nut removal neccesary. Then it all goes back on in reverse. Just make sure you pump the brakes up before you take it for a drive so that the piston in the caliper can return back to it's normal state.

Tail/brake light bulb replacement 2004 Olds Alero

In the trunk, in the rear corners, you'll see some plastic "caps" with tabs on them, similar to wing nuts. Remove those, and the taillight comes right off the back of the car. That will allow you to replace the bulbs.
