Question about 1999 Toyota Camry
Wires are pinched and shorting together near the left (drivers side) trunk hinge. brake light power is feeding back through the reverse light wiring. this will also turn on the check engine light with a neutral safety switch malfunction code as the computer also sees this voltage in the reverse light circuit. Find and repair the wiring, pull the EFI fuse in the panel under the hood to clear the code. Hope this helps

Had dash reverse light on no matter what gear I was in. Had no rear reverse lights no license plate lights and had check engine light on. Check engine code said it was the neutral safety switch, Checked wire harness at left trunk hinge and found broken wire. repaired wire and now have all lights working and no check engine light and no dash reverse light when head lights were on
