How to change a spark plug on a 2001 murcury cougar

When viewing the location of the old spark plugs in the engine, its does not look like one could remove the spark plugs with out removing some major parts. How could I replace spark plugs for a 2001 murcury cougar without over hauling the engine?

Can you reach the spark plugs with your fingers?

You probably need to purchase a swivel for your socket wrench to allow you to get into the tight spaces. You should not have to remove any engine parts to gain access, but you will have to be flexible.

Front plugs V-6 remove engine logo cover and air boost box, use looped end longe needle nose pliers to grip boots at base and pull up, easy to do when engine is still a little warm, I use a Thorsen brand spank plug socket and 12" extension, the Thorsen does not have rubber boot which may stick to plug when installing.Rear plugs, remove the 3 bolts on coil pack, slide back an inch, use same tool to loosen boots from plugs, use same 12" extension and socket that you used on front, there is just enough room for that extension to slightly rub rubber hood seal on firewall. remember to properly gap plugs .052-.056" and to hand tighten them first before placing ratchet onto extension so you know plugs are grabbing threads properly. I just performed this job on my 2001 V-6 Cougar and took just around 30 minutes, no need to spend many hundreds in a shop to change your plugs... another tip, if you have air, blow the spark plug pockets out after you remove the plug wires in case any were loose and debris had fallen inside, mine were pristine...

Get a swivel fitting for your socket wrench. You may also need a short extension for the socket wrench. You will also need a spark plug socket to fit those plugs. Make sure that you pull the plug wires off by gripping the fat part of the plug wire and not the wire itself lest you tear it and ruin it.

How do I change the spark plugs for a 2001 xj8 where are they located

They are located under the black plastic covers on the top of the engine. Remove those and you will see the ignition coils. Take those out and the spark plugs are beneath them. There are no spark plug wires.

Change sparks plugs on 06 hyundai sonata v6

You didn't specify whether you have the (4) cylinder or the (6) cylinder engine..... I have a 2004 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L 4 cylinder and I just changed the spark plugs in it. I believe that the 2005 2.4L engine is the same. To locate and change the (4) spark plugs on a 2004 Hyundai 2.4L 4 cylinder engine: Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way. Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed. Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right. Starting with the fist spark plug on the left: Remove the spark plug cable by pulling straight up on the insulated connector. Using a spark plug socket, remove the old spark plug and install a new one in it's place. To access the second spark plug from the left, remove the electrical connector and the spark plug cable wire from coil number (1) and then remove the (2) 12mm bolts that secure the coil to the engine. Spark plug number (2) is located directly under the coil. Lift the coil straight up removing the insulated connector from spark plug number (2). Using a spark plug socket, remove old spark and install a new one in it's place. Repeat same procedures for spark plugs number (3) and (4). Note: If you have the (6) cylinder engine, the front (3) sparks pluge are readilly accessible but in order to access the (3) rear spark plugs, you will have to remove the intake manifold
