ABS is so advanced now and is linked to all sorts of other safty features of a car E.G traction control, electrionic stability programs, it could be many things. A lot of problems that occure with ABS can be traced back to the speed sensors at the wheels. But unless you albe to test the speed sensors and wires to them the your self the only option you have is to have a garage plug some sort of code reader or scanner into the diagnostic port of the car to find why the ABS light has come on.
But just remember If you choose to ignore the problem the ABS will not work with the light on. The brakes will still work as normall but no ABS to help you stop in a emergency.

Which light is on ? The ABS light or regular Brake light?
If ABS light is on, your ABS is currently not working and it might be an electrical problem.
If the regular brake light is on something is wrong with the hydralics in the brake system. Either way bring it in ASAP. Good luck
I will bet money that it is the ABS/TRACS module. It is mounted under the master cylinder on the bottom of the ABS unit. These are very, very, very common failures. I have replaced hundreds of them in my career. To answer your other question, the TRACS system uses brakes. For example: in the snow, when the L or R wheel is spinning faster than the opposite, the TRACS will apply brake to the spinning wheel to slow it down to an equal speed. Hope this helps.
yes it's most likely a alternator problem, usually the internal diode bridge breaks causing all lights you mentioned to come on,if this happens at a idle open the hood and remove green connector on alt.if lights go out you've found the problem
When the ABS light comes on and stays on there is an issue with the Anti-lock Brake System. As long as the light is on you do not have ABS and to turn the light off you need to have the system repaired.
Have someone check the wheel speed sensors. One is probably bad and not sending data to the computer. This will shut off your ABS system and all-wheel drive, because the system can't read the speed of one of your wheels. It needs input from all 4 wheels for the systems to work.
