Cig lighter not working and data link won't read scanner
The cigarette lighter and outlet aren't working on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra. I have a feeling that the dealer or a mechanic may charge a ridiculous amount for something that might be a simple fix. How do you change the fuse?
This is also the location for the Elantra 2001. You can wiggle the coin tray out and on the back of it is a fuse diagram for the panel. A big thanks to claudettesad!!! Other posts tell you to look elsewhere and the owner's manual says nothing about its location.
In the engine compartment there is also a large black covered fuse box (labelled as such) to the right when facing the engine. I mention this because it contains a white fuse puller that you can use to pull a fuse out of the panel behind the coin tray.

Common problem. You most likely have a blown fuse on your cigarette lighter circuit. These get shorted out all the time due to faulty phone chargers, GPS units, coins in ash tray getting stuck in the socket, etc...
This same circuit is what powers pin 16 of your data link connector(an OBD scanner will not work without it).
The Fuse you need to check is the CIG/DLC fuse, which is Fuse #28 (20 Amp) in your instrument panel fuse block. The instrument panel fuse block is located on the driver's side of the instrument panel.
Be sure to check your cigarette lighter for some of the things mentioned above, and take corrective action, or you will only blow another fuse.
check to see if power is going to the cig, outlets. I believe on the camry there is a 2nd fuse for lighter outlets. it is marked as power point " A" fuse located in fuse box. it should be a 15 amp fuse. good-day !! top row.
I suggtes check the position CIG LTR for Cigarette Lighter. The underhood fuse block in the engine compartment on the driver's side of the vehicle near the battery. Lift the cover for access to the fuse/relay block.
To remove fuses, hold the end of the fuse between your thumb and index finger and pull straight out.
