1986 Ford Tempo LX charging light on

Left work and on the way home the light came on and it will not go off.
Replaced the battery in late summer. Can it be the alternator or voltage regulator if this car has one???

I recently had a similar issue, it turned-out to be the voltage regulator (inside the alternator) I purchased an alternator, problem solved.

1986 Ford Tempo LX wipers won't shut off, all the other speeds work fine.

You must have a bad wiper switch. By any chaqnce, is the headlight switch and wiper switch on the same stalk? The bad alternator may have shorted out the switch or it may have caused some wires to get hot, melted the insulation, and the heasdlight feed wire is passing current to the wipers-this would be hard to find, but look at the connector for the wiper switch, and check the wires both before and after the connector as far as you can to look for a wiring problem. I hope the new wiper switch fixes it.
Good luck.

Are there any special tricks to removing a factory sterior from a 1986 Ford Tempo

Ford radio removal tool. Looks like a pair of horse shoes with a barb on the end. They get inserted into the two holes on each side of the faceplate to disengage the clips. You can however insert 4 6D finish nails into the holes. At the same time, push the right 2 to the right and the left 2 to the left while pulling. The head unit should slide out with a little patience. I hope that helps. Please rate my assistance and leave a testimonial.

'92 Ford Tempo won't start.

Check the battery cables for bad connections, both at the battery, and where the ground cable connects to the engine and chassis. I believe the solenoid is remote mounted from the starter, so check the cable between the solenoid and the starter as well..

Yes, the voltage regulator is probably built in the alternator.
