If the radio still plays audio, its the little LED behind the screen that has ended its life. if you take the radio apart you will see where it sits behind the screen. if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can replace this rather cheap with a LED from radio shack. Hope this helps!

This is good investment to understand your vehicle better and if you try to save money it will help you guide trough the proces of repairing and troubleshooting problems on your vehicle.
Find the fuse box, they are generally located under the dash near the sterring wheel, but can be in the glove box or elsewhere. the cover to the fuse box should have a diagram of the fuses and what the fuses control. If you are having fuse problems and suspect a burnt fuse and can not find the diagram you will need to pull one fuse at a time inspecting each fuse for a burnt filament, then replacingwith the same amperage fuse as the burnt. Your best bet is to buy a radio install kit and adapt it to the Mustang connector. Hope this information helps.
