Question about 1997 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

I have a 99 pontiac bonneville. It keeps staling out on us. We can't even drive it to the store 3 miles away. We put premium gas in as well as dry gas and fuel injector cleaner. We also changed the fuel filter, but still the same problem.

1984 chevy silverado 305cid intermitently missfires @ idle and low speed driving

Of the cuff, I would suspect bad gas. It sounds as if the truck has been seldom driven, and may need a gas additive to "revive" the stale gas.
Some people would put about 10 gallons of "premium" gas in it to see if that would help.
God bless your efforts.

Very high idle at start, slowly idles down after hot. Replaced ICV, sometimes lopes, can shut down, restart, idles right.

change fuel filter. add can of SEAFOAM(parts store) to 1/2 tank of PREMIUM gas. let car idle 3-5 minutes. drive hard at least 10 miles.

you have what I call Ethanol Gas Syndrome. the ethanol gets in your system adds water and turns fuel to brown goop, it also carbonizes valves, injectors, and emission parts.

you might want to change f filter after 500 miles(again). add SF every 3-5000 miles, and this will clean the carbon; fix the gas and fuel system, and dry the water. good luck.

My car sometimes sputters when it first starts then the rpms will increase to 3 by its self and there are times that the car wont start or it stalls out

replace fuel ilter/ add can of SEAFOAM(parts store) to full tank of PREMIUM gas(just this once)/ let car idle for 2 min. drive for approx 10 miles. change fuel filter again. then change plugs.

you may need to change oxygen sensor. add SEAFOAM to your fuel 3-5000 miles, and this should help tons.

you have what is called ETHANOL gas syndrome. the ethanol is a corn derivative/ the heat and the gas actually create a type of corn liquor(I know; but it's the truth), and alcohol creates water in your fuel, your emissions, and causes carbon build up inside your engine, It turns the fuel to a choc. milk looking goop that's all through out your system. for some unknown reason; it's worse in GM products. Trust me; the last 2 years, I sold more GM fuel pumps than in the past 10.

But try to do this. It will clean out your system, and if you stick on a schedule with the SEAFOAM, it will help your car; well; tremendously.

2004 Pontiac Bonneville Check Engine Light

do you fill the gas tank with the key on?

Try disconnecting the battery for 1/2 hour an then reconnect and drive for 10 miles. It may run rough for this period. This will clear codes from memory.

When i take off the car is very sluggish and it seems to me that there is water in the gas and most likely in the fuel filter. for i can't do more the ten or fifteen miles on the speedometer,it just won't...

Change the fuel filter now, and put some dry gas in the tank, its got up to the injectors, it will run bad until the water is gone. The dry gas should help in short order.

1993 pontiac bonneville sometimes wont crank and stales out

Check the ignition module. The coils plug directly on to it, it should be silver in color and about 1/4-1/2" thick.
