Question about 2002 Ford Windstar Cargo

1 Answer

I cannot remember the codes now at it has been a few weeks, but with the device at autozone, the codes said I needed the oxygen sensors replaced. I was hoping that I could just replace maybe one on my 2002 Ford Windstar instead of all three. Someone at my wife's work suggested just changing the one at or near the catalytic converter. I assume that is the one in the front. We just have a few more days on the inspections as the person who has been working on our cars has not been responsive. I think I can replace this or these, hopefully anyway. Any Tips? Thanks, Eric

Yes, replace one at a time. The downstream sensor is to check how much oxygen is still left in the exhaust & report it to the computer.

The 2 upstream control the fuel mixture through the computer. The code should say which sensor needs replacement.

Jeep Liberty 2004 error code P0144

Code is "Oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above normal operating range"

Very likely it's the Lambda sensor on the eshaust playing up. Check connections and get it tested.

Can give up with faulty fuel from some pumps.

2007 Toyota sienna V6 P2197 code from Autozone diagnostic.

Solved. I have 2008 Sienna with Check Engine and VSC lights on. Scanned codes were P0051 and P2197. Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 needs to be replaced. You can see this sensor on the right side of the engine when you open up the hood. You need to get an Oxygen Sensor socket (I used Tekton 7/8in 22mm which costs $9) and a wrench extension to reach it. Spraying liquid wrench a few times on the base of the old sensor also helped to loose it. The replacement sensor I used was Denso 234-9049 which costs $85 from eBay. Lights went off after the sensor was replaced. It took me 30 minutes to replace.

White smoke coming out of tailpipe when starting what could it be?

The white smoke is most likely burning antifreeze due to a blown head gasket. The oxygen sensor code is most likely an oxygen sensor that has been destroyed by the anyifreeze. Replacing the oxygen sensor will not do any good until the problem with the engine is fixed. The trans code is anybody's guess because there are probably 50 different transmission codes possible and you did not mention which one you are getting.

This link will take you to a site that will show you what the sensor looks like and it's cost.Your sensor is located in the exhaust pipe by the catalytic converter. This is under the car, screwed directly into the pipe just behind the converter.Hope this helps?
