Question about 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

1 Answer

1993 S-10 Truck will not start

My husband was driving and the distributor cap came loose. He has replaced the cap and roter, checked the module, weak spark to the plugs. Is hard to keep running even when you have the pedal all the way down.

We have a 1993 Jimmy that has been sitting for about 2 years or so. He has taken the coil off of that one to replace. Do they go bad?

How about the coil have you tested it and DO you have a proper spark tester using a spark plug for testing the spark is no longer efficient! test the coil !!!

Yes but not likely! hang on here!! how is it the distributor came loose the whole intermediate shat or cap & rotor came loose? if that shaft was turning left to right freely then your timing is out considerable!!! watch you don't bend vales up in mortar flooring to keep it running!!!! I would::: have husband turn distributor 1/4 in clock wise tighten and try if you keep it running take it in get it set up!!!! professionally!! if the quarter turn improves considerably then a touch more tighten and get it to shop!! set it up as I mention already

What would cause 93 chevy c1500 rough idle smells of excess gas at exhaust

Does the truck seem fine when you first start it & then acts up when it reaches operating temp?
That would lead me to look at my oxygen sensor, a bad sensor can cause the truck to run "rich" which would explain the fuel smell in the exhaust.

Check for power to the ignition module. That is the most likely part to fail after the coil.

Cant get no fire/replaced distributor /cap and roter replaced crank sensor and coil put wires and plugs { and still cant get fire to distributor} 1996 gmc/1500 5.7liter

if i understand u correctly u replaced the distributor and cap if so i would start with making sure my pick up coil was installed correctlyand or replace it.i also would look at the possibility of it being a powertrain control module or neutral safety switch if this vehicle is equipt with one. hope ive been helpful

My 1986 toyota 2wd pick-up truck has no spark at the coil, the guys at auto - zone tested the coil for resistance and it check ok. the rotor turns when I crank the engine, what else should I check.-

Hello i can assist you. Hello your ignition module will cause a no spark you find your module under your distributor cap.You will see two wires go into your distributor shaft these will connect to your pick up distributor module. To remove and replace this part you will need to unscrew the distributor cap lift off and remove retaining screws on the module once you have removed this replace it with your new module reinstall your distributor cap and start.

Durango won't start. turns over fast and tries to

Thats what mine is doing right now.

This sucks alot but here are steps to take.

1. Check fuel pressure to make sure its not the fuel pump
Should have a valve on the fuel line to press make sure gas comes out when the key is in the ignition in the on position
if there is gas then...

2. check to see if you have spark coming out of your coil.
if there is replace distributor cap and roter, should not be more than 20 bucks, then try the ignition module (60sih dollars) then Crank sensor if its a 99 5.9 Liter

After that i am unsure those are the things that usually go wrong, it could also be the spark plug cables, if it just stopped working like mine did randomly i would check the distributor cap and roter then the sensors first though. Cause the chances of 8 sparkplug cables going out at once are slim

Also make sure the roter inside the distributor is turning.
As if its not turning that is the issue,...
