1998 Hpnda Passport, the engine will start but not move forward
We were driving on the hwy on cruise control and suddenly the engine was just revving really high with no forward motion. Bad smell of burning rubber. We had just gotten oil change & fuel injection system done at WalMart.

Wow looks like your gear box just blew up is it an auto? my guess it is an auto. one of the cars herd did the same thing with this car tho the over drive stopped working (4gear) so he was luckily and dident have to pay a sent as he never went over 100kph this may be the same with you if it is an auto put in into 1 or low then try to take off if this doesnt work you may need a new auto gearbox

Check your transmission fluid to make sure it is at the correct level and that it is clean. It is possible that you may have a clogged filter, when was the last time the transmission was properly serviced with a fluid and filter change?
code p0320 refers to cam shaft position (CKP) sensor/engine speed (RPM) sensor--circuit malfunction=== causes --wiring--CKP/RPM sensor ---ECM
because the engine runs ok until it is on cruise control I would be investigating the RPM sensor for a fault
The cruise control takes its control from the RPM sensor and if that circuit is interminable the the cruise control doesn't know what rpms to maintain.
Hi Nikki, What oil was low? Was it engine oil or gear box oil? Did the engine overheat? what exactly happened? Did you hear any strange noises when the engine stopped? Was the vehicle towed or was it on the back of a recovery vehicle? If it was towed, at what speed and over what distance? What engine is fitted? Is it petrol or diesel powered? Give as many details as possible to help us help you. Regards John
i also have a 99v70. As i was driving the car home 2 days ago in cruise control. Suddenly the speedo dropped to '0'. The cruise control quit and the abs, upshift arrow, and check engine light came on. The solutions is the 'abs control unit' From Volvo; 870.00 from Advance; 256.00 w/ core exchange. Its fixed all those dash issues.good luck
Forward clutch went out inside the trans, When you rev the engine, the fluid pressure rises and tries to apply the forward clutch assy. I rebuild these 5R55 trans for this concern a lot. Total rebuild kits with seals, fibers, steels, bands, servo's cost about 275.00 dollars plus the cost of the torque converter. Labor is about 1200 buck. Who ever does this repair for you, ask them for a 3yr/50k warranty. That means the shop really stands behind there rebuilds, as that is the trans warranty I give to my clients.
With the sudden loss in brake pressure, and the light on, I would check the fluid level and if its low, suspect a brake fluid leak, that may be the burning smell, maybe leaking near a exhaust pipe? You dont mention where you are, but if its NORTH and salt is used to get snow off the roads, brake line failures are real common.
another factor that could affect your problem is the hydrolic fluid. there is a valve body inside the gearbox which controlls the gears. so lets say the vavle that controlls first gear dont open then the hydrolic fluid wont activate first gear. i think when u revv the engine it is increasing the hydrolic pressure which is aiding the vavle to open. the problem could be in the valve controll modual.
