1995 Cadillac Deville-4.9L, w/4T60E Transmission, not a Northstar. Do you have to lower the frame to remove the transmission?

Yes, most front wheel drive vehicles need to have the subframe removed in order to removed the transmission and this is no exception. Are you sure this is a 4t-60, I thought it was a 4t-80. I could be thinking of a different year I guess.

If you have an engine support to hold the engine in place while the transmission is removed, it is easier to just remove the transmission.

Do u need to take the heads off the motor if not what major has to be removed in order to get the tranmission out of a 1999 cadillac deville with the northstar in it do i need to take the motor out or what...

You do not have to remove the heads or engine. You need a support fixture to hold the engine, then you need to remove the cradle (small frame that supports the engine on the bottom) The transmission can now be removed. Unless you have the equipment it could be very dangerous to do this without a lift, transmission jack and support fixture. bluebirdmate (transmission weighs approximately 500 pounds)

Will a transmission from a 1993 DeVille fit a 1994 DeVille?

If they are both devilles and both have 4.9 engines the transmissions (4T60E) will interchange

It might physically appear to look the same . but the valve body within thw transmission will contain differences

transmission replacement on that vehicle not for novice leave it to professional. engine needs to be supported then frame needs dropped not simple job
