I have the same problem. The locking mechanism acts like it's working, but it won't open.

It sounds to me like the door latch is froze up. If you can get the door open try working the latch with a screw driver. If you get no reaction from the latch at all, then I would have to say the puller bar inside the door either came off the handle or the latch.

Your lock mechanism has become jammed in the closed position, best have a boddy shop or GM garage fix it, they have the tools to do it without damaging the car.

get in the car anyway possible, you probrally cant open the door from the inside either. Your gonna have to reef the door panel off and reach inside towards the post where the door latches to, and play with it and unlock it by hand. what it is is the spring loaded locking part in the assembly rust out and wears out so that the door wont unlock. I have the same problem with my car i disconnected the power locks in my car cause when people want to roll the window down they accidentally push the lock button. then im stuck entering and exiting out of the passenger door untill i play with it and unlock it. so me and you are gonna have to replace the latch assembly from inside the door.
