How to remove old trunk lid shocks on the LS 430

A trunk lid is secured into position using a latch and striker similar to those used for the hood and doors. The striker is a U-shaped piece of metal fixed to the trunk lid. The latch is a mechanism that hooks around striker and holds it tightly until the latch release lever is pulled. Latch release levers can be actuated electronically via a solenoid and switch or mechanically via a cable and handle. The most common failure item with electronic systems is the solenoid actuator which is typically integrated into the latch itself. For manual release systems the most common failure items is the cable which tends to snap internally, especially if there is a problem with the latch such as binding. Accessing the trunk area to replace the necessary parts can be tricky if the trunk won't open; in these cases I'd recommend trying to open the trunk with the key (if it has a lock cylinder) otherwise the back seats will need to be laid down or removed in order to get to gain access. Look closely at the old ones, on each end is a metal clip, pry off this clip with a small flat tipped screw driver and the rods will come off the pivot. You must have help to hold the lid as you remove the old rods. To install the new ones just align the pivots up with the pivot holes in the new rods and press them on. Hope this helps Fix Ya up.

its in the trunk, remove the panel that says navigation, hit the eject button and replace the disk. make sure the car is on while you do this. it will automatically load the new disk

Prop up the trunk and unbolt them, should be easy to do

The trunk should auto close when you manually lower the lid to the almost closed position, but it is NOT designed to open up fully when you hit the trunk release on the key fob, nor when you open the trunk manually using the touch sensitive button under the lip of the trunk.
