Hi take the park brake off. Select N on gear selector and try and push the car. You may need some help. If the car will not move .Your brakes are stuck .If it rolls then it is a gearbox problem

My four wheel drive is popping but i have a different gear ration in the back than in the front is that why an i have a 2001 ford ranger

Exactly. You can not use two different gears. One end is fighting the other and the 4x4 transfer unit is in the middle. You will be picking up shavings and parts very soon. Do not use 4x4 until they match.

1996 ranger 3.0 auto tranny won't go into any gears. help!

would the shift lever move? if not it's the tranny lock out, if it moves and feels loose then it's the nut holding the shifting lever on if it won't come out of park then the locking paw is not functioning when you step on the brake. need more make another comment and I'll check back.

1999 4x4 ranger comes out of four wheel drive

Put manual lockers in it. And remember, you have to back up 50 feet to lock in the hubs, automatic or manual. Not doing this could cause your problem.

Sounds like the shifter cable,if it is and automatic trans. has broken. look at the trans selector under the truck and see if it moves when you select different gears. If it doesn't its the cable
