Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
While driving in the snow the last few days I applied the brake pedal hard a few times to see how slick the road was and to see how the brakes would react, now the abs light came on and wont go out, light stays on all the time. what do you think the problem could be?
Once the ABS light is on there is a problem with the ABS system. You can't really guess with this stuff. Also it becomes a safety issue when abs light is on the ABS system is in-operable. Here is my advice take your vehicle to any AUTO-ZONE store and they will check for FREE and let you know why this light is on it could be anything form abs sensors(wheel sensors) or something like that, they are four of them one in each wheel so make sure to get exact info as to what is the exact code and meaning. Good Luck feel free to contact t me if ou need more info

I had the same problem, and to add to that, when I turned my truck off
there was a motor still running. I pulled the fuse for the ABS out of
the fuse box under the hood and it stopped.
I found this: http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic411638.htm
You should be fine if you just pull the ABS fuse if you don't mind driving without ABS and cruise control because they are linked. Otherwise, you'll have to get the ABS module serviced.

It could also be a faulty hub part of the abs sensor system is there. My 01 silverado needed both hubs and sensors replaced. Don't use cheap hubs if needed they don't last.

Its most likely the abs module. go to ebay cause for 130.00 they will upgrade the components on the inside.
