Jeep Grand Cherokee is notorious for broken blend-air doors. This is the door inside the A/C-heater housing that switches the air from hot to cold. You must remove the dash to repair it.
Changing the heater core requires complete removal of the dash panel
and plenum box. To do this you have to remove the steering wheel,
steering column, evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system and drain
the radiator. I would only consider changing the heater core if it is
physically leaking into the passenger compartment. If the problem is
heat transfer to the HVAC system only, the problem is more likely with
the blend doors. Check heatertreater.net for pictures and diagnostic
information.

hi
log onto heatertreater.net they have a diy quick fix blend door repair kit that doesent involve removing the whole dash board. the kit really works well and can be fitted in around half an hour.
hope this helps
there should be a small valve attached to a hose coming from the engine into the firewall this valve directs the hot engine coolant into the heater radiator in the heater box it probably is closed open it and, you should have heat then: it should be easy to find the reason it was closed
You have 2 posibilities.there are 2 motors on the heater box that run the blend doors for each side. That side motor may be bad or worst case the blend door arm that connects to the motor is broken. If it is broken the whole dash has to be removed so the heater box can be taken out to replace the blend doors.Big job,do a heater core while your there if you fix it so you dont have to do it again.
Mine did the same thing. The quick fix is to turn the knob to the
heat side, then push gently on the knob itself. You'll instantly
feel the air get warmer. The real fix entails taking the dash
apart.
thanks so much. Just what I needed.
