Re: car cies when brakes are applied, and won't go back...
Sounds like your clutch needs adjusting . There should be adjustments on the top or bottom of cable. If adjustment is ok check clutch pedal points the brackets that support it sometimes crack if the cable gets stiff

You can find the owners manual for your 2005 Focus online by googling 2005 Focus Owners manual. On page 127 under Roadside Emergencies it describes the fuse panel under the dash by the brake pedal. There is a second panel, called the Power Distribution Box under the hood in the engine compartment. The manual describes the location of each fuse and relay. Good luck!
If the brushes in the starter are worn out then the solenoid on the starter can't work.It needs to go to ground through the brushes to engage,i suggest that you replace the brushes in the starter. If i'm wrong then you need a starter solenoid switch, the one on the starter.
Are you saying that the car did not stop when you applied the brakes?
A vehicle does not automatically go into park when the brakes are applied. You have to manually put the vehicle in park with the shift lever.
If your car is not STOPPING when you apply the brakes - then this is a serious problem with the BRAKES!
hi, i have sorted this problem on my 99 focus ghia.,check both your tail light bulbs.someone put the wrong bulb in and i had the exact same problems you described.the bulb for brake/tail light has two steel connecters and and all other bulbs have one.i put proper bulb in and the problem disappeared.now lights working perfect and sidelights dont come on now when i brake :)change both brake/tail bulbs on each side.1 euro will fix this problem.hope this helps.
