Check engine lite is on i clear code p1627 it come right back on about 5 seconds

Hi. I'm not clear about something. Did the car run after the shop by-passed the anti-theft, replaced wiring to CPS and camshaft? Why did you need to replace the ECM and CPS a second time? There isn't a fast answer for this issue. It may take days of diagnostics.I always recommend starting with checking "Fuel & Spark". A compression test is a great idea as well. Right everything down so your not guessing. An engine can crank and not start for many reasons. Which coil test did you perform? Did the coil have both power and a pulse (While Cranking)? Even after resetting the computer it may take several days to reset the internal workings of the computer. When i went for my E Test they asked me if my check engine lite was on in the last thirty days and if I reset the computer I was to run the car and come back in two weeks. I drive an 2005 car.

the 173 is a transmission code, the 556 is a bad brake booster pressure sensor.
a vacuum leak from the booster can cause engine to run poorly.

You need to run a system fault code test, do that by following the instructions HERE, code are also listed at the site.

This code indicates a high voltage from the ETC, the engine coolant temperature. Supposedly a high voltage means a low temperature. Try to disconnect/ reconnect the battery a few times; this should clear the code. If the code returns, it is most likely the sensor. This should have nothing to do with the emmisions. If that's the only code, then the emmisions problem could be catalytic converters, O2 sensors, fuel injectors, could need a tune up, etc... usually emissions problems have to do with poor fuel burn-off.

The check engine light is definately an emission control issue. Assuming that the light is not flashing. What all did they do at the emission place? I know down here in Tucson, AZ they pull the gas cap off and check to see if it holds pressure, if they dont put it back on properly it will turn on the check engine light. The check engine light can come on for hundreds of reasons. Your best bet is to run down to an Auto Zone and have them run a free scan on the code. Once this is donw write back with the code and I will decipher it for you.

it means there's a problem on either aux input or the output try to check both connection.

When you rest your codes there is a series of tests your ECU has to go through before you can pass emissions. this is done some people can reset the code and go before its sets the code again. on the 96 you can have 2 tests not complete for it to pass. basicly you have to drive the car a couple days for the tests to pass.

check the readiness tests wait until only 2 have not passed. then you should be good.so drive and check.

disconnect your neg battery terminal for about 30 seconds and this will clear it

well this old trick might work.disconnect your battery for about 5 minutes and hook it back up,that work for me.or you can take it to an autozone and they have a code reader to read and turn off the engine light.let me know.no if the check engine light is on it wont pass emissions.
