I think i bought bad gas and might need to change my fuel filter.I'm not sure if the filter is under the hood.I don't have a manual and haven't looked yet.I have changed the gas and used drygas and it got better, but it came back.Do you have this information?

Check area behind gas tank, in front of rear wheel along frame, on passenger side. Some of those had fuel/water separator assemblies instead of just filter, just so you know. Have a look, click link.

Has the car been running on empty recently? Running with low fuel can damage your fuel pump because on some cars the gasoline is the lube for the pump. a bad fuel pump could be the problem. Look up some YouTube videos on how to diagnose

94 cadillac eldorado fuel filter replacement

It could be a fuel problem, but in most cases the rough running would continue at road speed.
You could certainly change the fuel filter and see what happens.
A rough idle but no problems on the road would point to a vac problem or maybe a burnt valve. A fuel or ignition problem would be at most speeds including when you put the engine under a load.
Its possible to have a faulty injector on one cylinder that is bad enough to cause a miss at idle but smooth out on the road, but that is a rare occurance.

Why does it sputter at low speeds and now is stalling out after warming up. Could this be because I let it run low on gas and I need to get a gas treatment?

Amanda: When was the last time the Gas Filter was changed? ...Also has the Distributor rotor been changed? The problem sounds like a clogged fuel filter...Changing the Rotor is a $5 good idea...See photos below...The filter and rotor can both be bought for $20...Once the filter is changed, i would suggest adding a can of SEAFOAM...Cost is $9 a can at most auto part stores...Pour it in the tank the next time you fill...It's an excellent internal cleaning product...

The fuel pump has a short hose on it It might have a pin hole in it..And when the vehicle gets low on fuel,it will **** in air..Only way to know for sure is to look at the pump..

Why does my van start, but engine dies within one minute? We have replaced fuel filter and van ran fine for about 4 days and now it will start, but dies shortly after.

Brandy, being that the filter helped for a few days, it is probably fuel related. Gas goes from the fuel pump to the filter, through the filter to the gas lines, from the lines to the injectors, and to the engine. You need to make sure the fuel pump is working properly. It should run at 12 volts. It may need changed. Check your gas lines and make sure none are damaged. I don't think it is the lines, but it doesn't hurt to check. You may have bad fuel injectors. They will need checked as well. Fuel pump, filter, lines, and injectors. These are your fuel system. When you have a fuel issue, these are what you check. Thanks for choosing FixYa and best of luck Brandy.

SOUND LIKE FUEL FILTER OR WEAK PUMP.IF YOU HAVE CARBURETOR FUEL FILTER IN REAR UNDER THE CAR IN FRONT OF SPARE TIRE FRONT IN LINE FILTER IS LOCATED AT THE CARBURETOR.IF YOU HAVE FUEL INJECTION ENGINE FUEL FILTER LOCATION IS ON FIREWALL IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.IF FILTER CHANGE DONT STOP STALLING PROBLEM COULD BE IDLE SPEED TOO LOW AND FUEL PUMP TOO WEAK NOT PUMPING ENOUGH FUEL FOR HIGH SPEED DRIVING.

It sounds to me as though you have a clogged or malfunctioning fuel pump. Depending on the engine in your car, and whether or not the engine has a carb or fuel injection system.

In most of the early 90's corvette's, there should still be a fuel filter on the fuel injection throttle body (it looks like a carb), and a fuel filter under the car on the fuel lines. I believe you'll want to check the passenger side, but follow the fuel lines to find the filter. You might only have one under the car, so don't be alarmed if you don't find a small one on the throttle body.

Try changing your fuel filters first, as this is an inexpensive way to make sure your vette is in optimum condition before you do anything else.

If fuel filter replacement doesn't work, you will want to have your fuel pump tested. The only way to DIY, is to remove the fuel pump from the lower drivers side of the engine and to blow in the "in" side with a little water and see if it puts out the fluid. Even at that it could still be bad, so if you pull the pump, plan on replacing it.

The only other realistic option is that your fuel injectors are dirty or the gaskets are bad and it is time for an injector overhaul. This is not to hard to DIY, but does take patience and attention. You can also try running some fuel injection cleaner through your engine before trying anything else to see if it helps.

Some unlikely options are that your smog pump is clogged, your catalytic converter might be bad, you EGR valve or Purge Valve is clogged, your timing is off and you need to check the spark system, or that you could have low compression.

The engine boggs down at high rpm. For instance, hesitates and boggs down when going up a hill or highway speeds. Idles normally and runs fine at low speeds.

if the fuel filter hasn't been changed do so, if the fuel filter is ok and has been changed out due to this problem you will need to monitor the fuel pressure under a load and make sure it doesn't drop below 45 PSI, it it does you will need to replace the fuel pump and the fuel filter. U also do say if you have a check engine light or have had the system tested for trouble codes that may be triggered by this loss of power problem.

on the bad gas part I would recommend to get some STP gas treatment with injector cleaner to put into the gas tank
try a salvage yard that has a 302 engine like yours and change the whole distributor because the shaft could be bad on that end
