You most likely have a bad fuel pickup or a bad changeover switch if its dual tanks. Also like I have said before, one of the most common reasons for any fuel issue with this year is the fuel and wire connections on top of the tank that lead to every major part of your fuel system. No one wants to drop the tank or reach up and disconnect the switch to check. So I get these trucks for close to nothing from people like you and run them forever, after I spend a day replacing the needed wiring or pickup. to remove anything you must drop the tank or take a chance of breaking something. If you are uncomfortable doing this. I may be able to give detailed instructions. bruceemon@peoplepc.com

I bought a 89 ford bronco it will back fire through the fuel injection when you give it gas but not all the time

sounds like it is running lean. Check engine light on?

You mean backfiring through the intake manifold right?

A tip in hesitation or backfire is usually a lean condition. If you have a MAF sensor, clean the inside exposed wires with carb cleaner. Do no touch.

Just bought a 1988 Ford Ranger 2.9 liter v6 today. On my way home from the gentleman's house whom i bought it from, the truck starts bucking and sputtering. When accelerating at highway speeds there seems...

well i'd call the basterd and ask him what he wants to do about it , or take him to court as he did not disclose these problems. Or did he? I would check the fuel system for leaks which causes engine to get air and less fuel than it requires or check tank for leak and also check motor for bad vacuum lines and intake gaskets. spark plugs check.

engine can be out of time
low fuel pressure

sounds like maybe you have some trash in your fuel tank. Try changing the fuel filter and cleaning the carb. If the problem persists, you may have to drop the fuel tank and have it cleaned out.
