Question about 2000 Toyota Corolla

Sticky manual transmission

I just bought a 2000 corolla that had the engine replaced before i bought it. The car, and I assume the transmission, have around 208000 miles but the replacement engine only has 84000. It's been cold lately and the transmission has been sticking a little before going into first gear. After warming up for a bit, this seems to be less of a problem. Is the car low on transmission fluid? if so, where would i refill it?

You might also check whether some one has put gear oil which is thick when cold. i believe the trans calls for regular tranny fluid(the red stuff) the stuff used in automatic transmissions. this is not as thick when cold.

There are 2 plugs on the tranny. Lower drain plug, and upper fill plug. Fluid is inserted thru the upper plug (after taking it out) until it starts coming out.

    must raise the car (level).

So a lift, or 4 jackstands is required.

If you fill on angle, the level will be incorrect.

Why does my reverse gear grid on my 2000 Toyota

I take it you mean the transmission grinds when shifting into reverse with a manual transmission in which case the input shaft of the transmission is still partially engaged with the engine. One cause may be low fluid in the hydraulic clutch reservoir if it has a hydraulic clutch mechanism; use DOT-3 brake fluid and pump the clutch pedal a few times to remove any air. Another cause may be that the pilot bearing is hanging up; this is a major repair. Another possibility is that the clutch lining is coming loose or totally disintegrated requiring replacement.

Bought a used 2006 Toyota Corolla a few months back. Car has been working great until I noticed what I feel is a slight transmission slip. I checked what I think is the transmission fluid and it appears...

The transmission filler is located towards the driver side front of the transmission. Look for a tube with a red " T " on top of the tube. Check the fluid with the engine running, in park, at normal operating temperature. If you need fluid, add the type of fluid printed on the dipstick. Add the fluid thru the dipstick tube. Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
