Where is this sensor located
The input/turbine speed sensor has nothing to do with the turbo. It is transmission related and is a circuit malfunction. I am having the same problem and it causes my car to downshift into 3rd gear (computer's fail safe gear) on the highway. The sensor is located above the transmission housing, and doesn't require you to take apart the tranny. I am having trouble finding the part number for this and where to buy it. Any help would be nice.
any suggestions on what the sensor looks like and where it is to be exact

SOURCE: how do I locate the turbine speed sensor on a ford
its on the front of the transmission below the coil it compares the input shaft/turbine speed against the speed of the output sensor it is checking to see how much slip or diffrenece in shaft speeds the only time the two shafts are spinning at the same time is when torque converter is in lockup
get this sensor from ford dealer for a little more than $100 bucks
