Question about 2007 Toyota Camry

2004 Camry horn is not working, horn, fuse & relay is ok. Got 12V "IN" Missing (-) from steering column harness to relay. Keyless entry will not turn horn either but will turn on lights and flashers with panic button. Rest of the functions work fine. Is there relay between steering column harness and horn relay? if yes where is it located? Other suggestions? Sincerely,Adam

Check for broken wires the neagative is by the horn button in the steering wheel has air bag ever been replaced in steering wheel if so the wire may have not been plugged in

2004 pontiac montana horn doesn't work. Fuse is OK and Relay is OK. What could be the cause?


The horn itself may be faulty, disconnect it and use a voltmeter to see if the voltage changes on the wires feeding it when someone presses the horn button. Most horns are 12V so you should also be able to connect the horn directly to the battery to see if it works. Just get the polarity correct.
The horn switch harness. (the switches and wiring in the steering wheel) Disconnect the negative battery connection before attempting to check this as the air bag is also in that area.

Ford explorer with horn not working at all not even keyless entry and fuse is fine


The horn itself is often the culprit. They can be temperamental. Easy way to check is to run 12V directly to the horn and see if it works. If it does, and the fuse is good, look to the horn relay.

Horn has stopped working on my 2006 Ford Explorer. The fuse seems to be fine. What could be the problem?


I would suspect an underhood fuse, the steering wheel clock spring, or a wiring problem. It's cheap to triple check all the fuses. The other two will require some troubleshooting to figure out. Since the horn works with the keyless entry, the relay, the horn, and its control wiring seem to be ok.

Horn relay


my guess, its a dead horn? both dead?
no actual question asked????????
the fuse is blow? in fuse box, eng. bay box.?
if no power to horn, (voltmeter)
we check power in and out of relay if there is one.
then at the horn button wire, (air bags can kill any mech. defeat them
first if heck bent to fiddly steering column parts in any why)
all this info is convered in in the FSM, get one. or login to alldata dot come. and read it.
here, ill look at yours. now.... a fast look.
ok 2 horns, hi/lo, and 1 relay in the under hood fuse box.
it should be labeled in the box, HORN
the relay can not work if the fuse is blown
or the horn enable line is dead. button.
the button grounds (0v) the relay via wire color lt.green-blu pin a11 on relay. if the a11 is at 12v the fuse is good.
if you push the horn button this A11 goes from 12v to 0v, and the relay energizes (click) and the horns both blow.
if no power makes it to the horns, the relay is bad no 12v
if by chance the relay output to horns go to 12v, then the horns are both dead.

HORN DID NOT WORK SO WENT AND GOT A FUZE PUT IT IN NOW THE HORN STAYS ON WHY IS THAT?


A fuse always blows for a reason. The reason your fuse must have blown was because of a short to ground in the horn switch. That means the power side of the horn switch is currently touching ground or metal or that the switch is bad on the inside. The more remote possiblity is that you have a short somewhere in the wiring harness. It is always typical for a component to go bad before a harness.

Here are some notes directly from chrysler, let me know if you need any clarification:

Testing and Inspection Notes WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIR-BAGS, REFER TO AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS/AIRBAGS BEFORE ATTEMPTING STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. Remove the lower steering column cover/knee blocker. Check for continuity between the metal steering column jacket and a good ground. There should be continuity If OK, go to Step 2. If not OK, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering Column and check for proper installation of the steering column mounting nuts.
  2. Remove the driver's airbag module. Unplug the horn switch wire connector. Remove the horn relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) . Check for continuity between the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire connector and a good ground. There should be no continuity If OK, go to Step 3. If not OK, repair the short circuit as required.
  3. Check for continuity between the steering column half of the horn switch feed wire connector and the horn relay control circuit cavity for the horn relay in the PDC. There should be continuity If OK, go to Step 4. If not OK, repair the open circuit as required.
  4. Check for continuity between the horn switch feed wire and the horn switch ground wire on the airbag module. There should be no continuity If OK, go to Step 5. If not OK, replace the faulty horn switch.
  5. Depress the center of the airbag module cover and check for continuity between the horn switch feed wire and the horn switch ground wire on the airbag module. There should be continuity If not OK, replace the faulty horn switch.

Why would the horn not work?


This is usually caused by a defective contact under the steering wheel for the horn button to the harness in the steering column, the contact is called a clock-srping rotoating ribbon contact, this is the most common problem.

my keyless entry has been working great we went on vacation. it quit working i cheched the fuses and the battery in the remote everything is fine just does not work anymore
